Operations set about making space for them, while Security faced the daunting task of moving the very dangerous individuals. Meanwhile medical and science are looking into how to solve the problem of feeding both species, which proved difficult. Science has also been tasked with gathering biological and cultural data from our Scorpiad guests.

Excalibur comes face-to-face with a dispatch of Al-Ucard vessels which demand that the prisoners and the Scorpiad be turned over to their custody. The Al-Ucard are somewhat surprisingly commanded by an "Elder" -- an important leader in their society. Though only given two hours to comply with the dictates, Excalibur attempts to determine why their prisoners are so important to both their captors and would-be rescuers.

Excalibur explores its options regarding what to do with the prisoners claimed by both the Scorpiad Empire and the rebelling Al-Ucards and Eratians. Discussions were held with the Scorpiad and Al-Ucard aboard the ship, though without much success. Engineering and Medical continue to design a device intended to "feed" the Eratians, and Corizon delivers an ultimatum of his own to the Al-Ucard surrounding Excalibur: the parties involved will go to Camelot Station, where a neutral third party will hold the prisoners.

After an early morning battle drill, Corizon held a senior staff meeting for the tired crew to discuss the trade mission. The crew will largely be spared having to deal with diplomacy, as Corizon will be the primary contact with the Bryiamid. Each department has been given the options of doing scheduled tours or doing a restricted version of leave. Science and Engineering will also be checking out the fuel gel itself.

OOC Dates September 5-November 7, 2010

IC Date July 7-20, 2385

Someone from the AQ has been smuggling Romulan weapons into the gamma quadrant and selling them to Dominion subjects so that they can resist. This has had the effect of several worlds rebelling. So far Taenix and the Vorta Council have worked with those world that have openly rebelled, while quietly taking out others. How long she can continue to do this, though, is an open question. Excalibur has uncovered several cache's of weapons, including on their last mission, a supply of Romulan weapons that matched serial codes with some they'd turned over to SI.

Unfortunately, before they could prove that, an explosion in the market where the team found them being sold destroyed the evidence. Back at the station, Corizon began to look into the matter and set up a meeting with a Romulan ambassador to look more deeply into it. That Ambassador was assassinated and Camelot is launching an investigation.

To get them out of the public eye for a bit, Excalibur is being sent on a "simple" mission to deliver parts to a starbase being constructed at the mouth of the wormhole on the GQ side. It has been three days since we last met and most of the supplies Excalibur will be delivering have been brought aboard. Engineering has been asked to begin assembling it. Onion and Security continue to check out leads on the smugglers, while medical has been given a fancy new supply of medical equipment to play with.

En route to the starbase construction site, Corizon received a call with Semil. Semil informed Corizon of his plan to give Taenix and the Vorta Council an ultimatum regarding the Grail, which enables communication with the Founders and had been located by the Excalibur over a year earlier. He also wondered what Corizon planned to do to stop the flow of weapons from the Alpha Quadrant, noting that while he supported the insurgencies cropping up, that he feared violent rebellion would only play into Taenix's hand and eventually end in a blood bath. Corizon reluctantly revealed that Starfleet was largely blocking his efforts to launch a full scale investigation.

Shortly after the conversation, Corizon informed the bridge to bring the ship closer to the Idran system and then drop out of warp long enough to complete

"diagnostics," he also called the chief engineer to his ready room. Cloak and dagger events seem on the horizon.

Excalibur proceeded to the starbase construction site, where they began to unload equipment. Operations noted several items from the original manifest were missing and, given our recent history, began to suspect foul play. Corizon authorized her to look into this while also telling Garrison to beef up security. Elsewhere, Wydown and DuBois tended to some injuries of starbase construction workers while Teykier fed Citrus. In engineering Admiran had enlisted the help of his assistants in construction of a secret project; which as it turned out, where were the missing supplies went. When pressed on the issue, he informed operations that he was working on a surprise birthday present for Corizon and that the missing parts weren't vital.

Before the issue could be brought to Corizon's attention, Excalibur received a distress call from the shuttle Canton. The shuttle had been dispatched from the Republic after she was heavily damaged. Canton requested any assistance in getting the Republic, which is currently under impulse power only, back to base. Corizon obliged and ordered a fighter escort to pick up the Canton while Excalibur embarked on her rescue mission.

Excalibur arrived to find the Republic disabled and in poor shape. The crew began rendering assistance, and Excalibur launched a fighter patrol to protect the fragile ship. (Or what was left of it.)

Medical beamed over to aid with patients who couldn't be moved, while others were beamed over to Excalibur. Corizon met with Admiral Blurox and Captain Kwai of the Republic, who briefed him on their mission and gave him a small token of gratitude -- a set of maps they'd made from a year of deep exploration in the Gamma Quadrant that had not even been to command yet. Corizon thanked them and offered Excalibur's recreation and holodeck facilities to her crew.

After meeting, they also decided that Excalibur would tow/escort Republic to DS9 as it was closer than Camelot by almost two weeks.

After a harrowing journey through the wormhole, the Excalibur and the Republic made it safely through the wormhole and docked at DS9. The Republic crew spent several days shoring up weaknesses in the hull before the two disembarked again, headed for Earth.

Midway, Corizon informed the crew they'd be breaking away from the Republic and setting sail for another mission. Once out of sensor range, he revealed that mission would be a covert infiltration of Romulan space to uncover weapons smuggling plot. He also revealed that he had accquired a cloaking device which Admiran had installed for him.

Reluctantly, much of the crew agreed to go along with the scheme. Excalibur met up with an old friend, Ambassador N'Kedre, who shared information with them gathered by the late Ambassador who'd passed away on Excalibur some weeks before. He apparently had gotten a lead on the smugglers and traced it a base inside the Neutral Zone. Excalibur made their way there under cloak.

Upon arrival, Excalibur found the base abandoned and beamed an away team, led by Commander Wydown, to the surface. The base, however, wasn't undefended and the self-defense systems wrecked havoc on both the away team and Excalibur.

After a series of missteps with the bases' security, Excalibur and away team were finally able to get some actual work done, albeit largely fruitless for the away team, as they found the Romulan computer core heavily encrypted. Earlier a broad-band frequency had been detected from a beacon, and the crew suspected that they had less than 17 hours before someone would come looking for them; Corizon gave Wydown and her team a fifeteen hour timeframe to find something, or they would pull out and go home.

Fortunately, Wydown and Mastumura located a stray ISD with clues to where the smuggling operation had relocated to and Excalibur and crew prepared to set off when a strange distress signal from a Romulan scout, using Federation codes was detected. Curious, Corizon ordered Excalibur to investigate. When they arrived, the individual aboard claimed to be trying to defect, but Corizon remained skeptical as the defector seemed to know a good deal of information about the Excalibur.

Weary of a potential trap, Corizon ordered the scout brought aboard and the pilot taken to the brig. Meanwhile, Engineering and Science worked with the encrypted data taken from the Romulan base computer while Wydown and Matsumura considered the ISD.
