Here's a New One

Who'd a thunk?

To preserve the integrity of this site and out of respect for those who are not of religious leaning, I've left the specifics out. However, if you're really, really into this I'm sure Google will get you there. Oh, and the "Trek Night" was on January 30, so you missed it this year.

Anyway, I found this site while looking for something else:

This is an open invitation to all who would come to our second annual TREK Night at <church>.

Trek Night started last year when Bishop <name> saw from our member profile database that over a third of our membership were "Trekkies" a fact which thrilled me. So I started our TREK night service. Be mindful that TREK Night is an all night event in which we talk, dress, watch and live TREK all night long.

Our special guest this week is none other than my all time favorite TREK bad guy - Harcourt Fenton Mudd (Harry Mudd) actor Roger Charles Carmel's son Roger Jr. Roger looks exactly like his father and will appear in Mudd apparel all night! (Roger Charles Carmel died in 1986).

The first 100 guest will be given a free Zune30 among other door prizes.

Rigelian ale, fried Tribbles, Klingon Ghluk i Trragh sauce, and Vulcan Salads will be served.

lol, thats great. While Trek is probably one of the more "agnostic" Sci Fi series out there (I believe Roddenberry himself was an agnostic), as it didn't have it's own religion for the series, and didn't really delve too deep into religious nuances it still meshed what it had together well. It's good to see that some religious groups can have fun with it and do something interesting with it's members interests.

I like this. I just goes to show that STAR TREK is harmless nd rated 'G'! LOL Well, mostly... Religion was a seldom approached topic (sans DS9) in the STAR TREK universe; sort of the sacred cow. I truly liked THAT. I am not extremely religious myself, however, I do like to think I respect others and their beliefs as I would expect them to respect mine.

Regardless, I believe whole-heartedly that if THIS universe is pursued then it will become! It already has in many everyday things that some people don't even realize.

Keep Trekking Gang!
