joe,

Just curious if you got the email I sent regarding my idea of "particpating".

Thanks,

Mitar Precip

Yep, I see it. Reply incoming shortly. :P

Qob's website has been updated with all the latest mission information.

Also be advised that if, like Precip, you would like to participate in the Qob: Tranquility universe but cannot commit to the Sunday 9pm timeslot, you may take part in a log writing endeavor like the Winston Chronicles. You can create a character based in Tranquility City, in one of Bull's Head's many other settlements, or aboard a mercenary or Guardian ship or station (to name a few possibilities), and take part by writing logs of your character's exploits. In addition to the opportunity for character development, you could help develop parts of Bull's Head that the crew hasn't visited yet. In time, the character may cross paths with the crew, engage in some joint logging, and (depending on your availability) take part in the sims as a guest player. A wide variety of characters is possible, including many that wouldn't be allowed on the crew (raiders, anyone?). If you're interested, contact me at [email protected].

Stay tuned for info about other opportunities that will soon be made available ...

A nice guide, Shane. Good general advice. A few of those terms are already used (in some form) in our slang guide. The others make good additions to the list.

A good general rule for our Klingon swearing is that non-Klingons in Bull's Head usually mispronounce the words (or warp them into entirely different words). This is mostly done deliberately, to make the slang a unique part of the culture. The Klingons, naturally, are not amused.

Another update to the website:

The latest missions (log links to be inserted later)

Database entries for Xorax and the Bynars, and (oops) an update on Minos

This image come from a website called desktopstarships.com. I thought it was pretty representative of what Qob may currently look like in her weary state.

Qob flying over Zoalus

Our wings are still in combat mode..make for an odd shot..but maybe with all those Gun Turret Defenses we had no choice.

(Just another image I felt compelled to post)

Byblos likes the business ends of the Qob's wings. It never hurts to have big guns on a small but mighty ship!

What are my Nausicaan Eyes looking at? Looks like Biker Art!

-Byblos

That looks like Rosetto's Zoalus alphabet, so this is probably a bit of art that's been recovered from the Zoalus ruins. Maybe when we return, you can get it tattooed. :)

Not a bad idea. Would be nice hoverbike art, but the art would leave a trail as to where the bike has been.

Actually I am a little stumped on Nausicaan physiology. Ex astris scientia, a fantastic Star Trek ship and alien site clearly mentions Nausicaan anatomy has changed in some of the Star Trek TV shows. Well Mainly one. Enterprise. I prefer to think as Byblos as the towering type bodyguard seen on DS9 or the guy who ran a blade through Picards chest in TNG..granted to makeup was cruder. I lack a defined skin color and face as a result..grrr..Enterprise.

I never thought of giving Byblos Tattoos, it would be interesting since he views his journey on Qob as another part of his life an he can document it on is body as a tattoo. Of course that would, leave a trail if someone killed Byblos (could happen any day!?). Curious if the Captain would be incensed if Byblos went around the galaxy getting Tattoos for each mission of Qob. Interesting potential character aspect. And that Zoalus work looks cool for a tattoo!

Byblos' player..

I doubt that any of the people who are after Byblos would bother studying his tattoos and trying to match them to Qob missions. I'm not even sure anyone who isn't on Qob's crew is even keeping track of Qob's missions. So the Captain certainly wouldn't mind.

Okay after some thought, It would be best Byblos refrain from getting this Zoalus design marked on anything until he knows what it means? Knowing his luck it says something like.."My Parents gave me horsey rides when I was little and I miss them very much!"

Both an out of character and in character thought here: Authorities, bounty hunters, general trouble; they may or may not care about whatever inspired the tattoo, but the more unique a tattoo is the more it'll stand out. Tattoos in general are a great source for identifying people.

But, like you said, the character development or crew interaction you could derive from that situation might be interesting.

Here's some more of that 'artwork' taken from the documents received from Dr. Phantos. Sal wonders (and so do I) if anyone can figure out the significance of this diagram? The second image is a 'cleaned up' version with some of the symbols replaced with arabic.

First thought was that it's a cipher of some sort, but I'm pretty fragged right now on a mental level. Maybe some kind of game?

EDIT: It might help if we had some kind of context.

If one reviews the Phantos documents then you will realize that all of the High-Order symbols are represented here, the inner group are the Eight Archetypal Characters, and the other symbols are an enumerated sequence of 0-15. Further study may reveal that these enumerations are place in, shall we say, 'unique' positions.

0-15? I'm guessing A-F represent 10-15?

Bah, HA HA HA... You funny man.... The interesting thing is.... It's something almost exactly like that, meaning a single number. (and that's the last clue I'm giving... lol)

Heh.

Might be reaching here:

First speculation is 15. Numbers on north-south, west-east ends can be added together to arrive at 15 (e.g. 15+0; 3+12; 9+6; 5+10). But the problem arises when trying to add diagonals; the only way to get 15 is to add numbers that aren't in a perfect corner-to-corner diagonal line. Maybe that was done on purpose? Keeping the line closest to it's north-south or west-east origin (e.g. south-south-west to north-north-east)? This also assumes that A-F are 10-15 respectively and not meant to be in another, unclear order.

Haven't tried with other operations yet, but I admit at first glance it doesn't seem like anything but addition will work.

I'm leaning toward the idea this is some sort of riddle - not just the riddle of figuring out its significance, but an actual puzzle in Zoalus. That's a 'question mark' in the center, right?

The real curiosities are: the context that we still don't have; why it was assumed that we'd make the leap from A-F to 10-15 on only the original post; and how do we earn more clues?
