First Contact

This log takes place before the Enterprise contacted Reaent.

 

 

Captain's Log, Stardate nine five three zero point three. James T. Kirk, still Captain of the USS Enterprise, NCC 1701-A.

 

It seems that our decommissioning... and my retirement... have been put off again. Half way to Earth and we were called about a strange ship that the fleet had been chasing around the Alpha Quadrant. Why they send us... this crew... to stop their wars, put out their fires and solve their problems is beyond me. We've done our bit for king and country.... The ship is... worn, the hull breach barely repaired from the encounter at Camp Kithomer. I'm beginning to wonder if they're not just trying to get rid of us.

 

They say... that this strange ship... must be from the future. It's Starfleet, that's for certain. Registration NCC 3345-G. Ambassador class, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen one like her. And... there's another ship in the fleet with that registration... 3345-B. Captain Quinn. I wonder if he's seen it... if they're keeping him away....

 

So... is it a ship from the future? And... if so... how the hell did she get here?

 

Enterprise... this crew... has had its share of time travel. There was a short jump from Psi 2000 that took us back three days. Not long after that we were... how did Spock put it? Thrown into a time warp by a black star? That took us back to the 20th century. It was... interesting.

 

But the most frightening... no, the_most_terrifying... experience... was erasing the existence of life as we know it... erasing the existence of the Enterprise... by jumping through the portal that calls itself the Guardian of Forever. Lesson learned. But... in doing that... we also found that the Guardian could be used as a tool... if used properly... by the right people....

 

When Starfleet contacted us, Spock suggested we consult the Guardian, which we did. That ship... the Reaent G... had been there before us, trying to find out if their timeline was right... which it is. So now we're looking for them. If they're trying to get home and they're not using the Guardian, then they must be looking for a star that will enable a slingshot maneuver. Not exactly the easiest thing to do, but the most... logical. The most logical place for them to do it is JG 1086, so we're headed there now to... convince them they need our help and to... help them. To do that we'll have to board her... without altering the time line.... without changing the future....

 

To board that ship... to see our future... the future of Starfleet... the advances we will make... the technologies... to see if Kithomer made a difference. All this I must ignore... for the sake of the future. But the question is... will I be able to? And what a temptation for our crew....

 

Computer, restrict all external communications to command authorization. Restrict all shuttle and transport operations to command authorization. Alert security to prepare for a total lockdown as soon as we drop from warp.
