Whickfield

Hi there!

Hello everyone, my name is John Whickfield. Current holder of the title of "Most interesting last name in the world", as well as the newest Cadet in the fleet.

I am a Star Trek fan as of the 2009 Abrams flik, and previous to coming here I was a member of the Star trek online roleplaying fleet, Aurora Fleet, for 6 months in which I managed to blow up 50 marine fighters, dent 6 of the fleet ships, and getting soot on the fleet admirals ship, and all within my first week on the chat server. (Thankfully anything that happens in there was non-canon and so it was all in good fun ;) ). I left the fleet in January as I wouldn't be able to play STO when it came out and felt that I wouldn't be able to contribute to it anymore, but since then I've felt a wanting to do some RP again.

So I decide "Ah, what the hey, lets take a look around" and I soon found this fleet. From what I've seen here so far everyone seems to be very kind and welcoming so I thought I try and join up.

Admittedly I've never actually done a "sim" before (Aurora always had its members as CO of their own ship) but look forward to learning how to. Also, I always try to add a flare of comedy to my writing but however I can be serious when the mood calls for it. And, as you may already be able to tell, I tend to blabber on for paragraphs at a time when I write, though moreso in forum postings than in chat :P .

I am very much looking forward to getting to know all of you and participating in my first fleet academy sim.

Warm regards,

Whickfield

Welcome to STSF, Whickfield! I hope you have a great time RPing with us!

I highly recommend you have a look at the Tips from the Moose and How to Sim areas on our forums/website; they'll help you get started on how simming works in our community. We have one-hour practice/training "Academy" games for new players every night, so feel free to stop by those games and the GMs will help you get set up as well; the schedule is available at http://www.stsf.net/schedule.php.

Feel free to ask around if you have any questions. See you in the Academies! ;)

Welcome to STSF Whickfield.

If I'm reading your post correctly, Aurora Fleet operated/planned to operate based on STO?

No worries; STSF operates completely independent of STO (and any Trek game). Everything we do here is our own RPG canon set within the various Trek universes.

Currently, the only Sim set in the Abrams time line is the Comanche Creek, with the other games set across the years in various other Trek years and eras.

Enjoy and check us out.

Welcome, Whickfield! Always good to have new players come in - fresh perspectives and all that.

Due to budget cuts and the Admiral's angry stare we frown on scratching the paint, not to mention blowing up ships. Of course there is the odd time when we *do* blow something up. We just don't talk about it much.

Good to have you around. See you in the academy.

You are indeed correct, Aurora is currently working in STO. From what I hear from my friends still in the fleet they've been doing quite well.

And in case I gave the wrong impression, my character is set in the prime universe, I was just converted by the '09 movie. I liked all the ships in the "prime line" better anyway ;) .

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Please, I like to think of it as more of a concerned glance.

Welcome, Mr. Whickfield, I hope you have as much fun as we do (and when I say "we," I mean me ::stares angrily:: )

Welcome aboard... I'm sure you'll fit right in... I've nearly killed all my superiors countless times... They don't call me Duroz the Destroyer for nothing.... Wait... they don't actually call me that at all.

Hey, if you want a really cool academy tip, try a sim hosted by N'Dak. Say,"I'm bored." I learned about that.
