Shore Leave 2010

40 posts in this topic

This is not an official STSF function.

Time to prepare for Shore Leave East, held during the Hunt Valley Convention from July 9-11. This is an informal gathering of friends who like to get together once a year for chat and camaraderie.

So far I plan to attend and I wonder how many others will try to make it. The Hunt Valley Convention is laid-back, relaxing, probably less expensive than most and the largest fan-run convention. Along with the normal lineup of stars there are workshops, art exhibits, and other activities to occupy your free time over the weekend. We at STSF usually hang out and talk, occasionally taking in one or two of the star presentations and always dancing the night away at 10 Forward on Saturday night.

Stars in the lineup this year (so far) are Edward James Olmos, Katee Sakhoff, Torri Higginson, Kevin Sorbo (slated last year but had to cancel at the last minute), Dominic Keating and Bill Dow.

More information and updates can be found at www.shore-leave.com.

More likely than not I'll be there. And it's much better organized and run than some other Fan Cons I've been to.

I should be there all three days this year, considering it's only a 30 minute drive for me. <_<

Reserved, and sent away for a con ticket -- expecting it within next few weeks. Let's do this.

I'll probably do what I've done the past two years, and pay at the door.

Seriously, what is up with the bee-age? They look like, at least around my area, those huge black bumblebees? But, these guys are zipping around all fast -- I'm used to seeing the ones that are so slow they are almost drunk and you can literally walk around them when they hover in mid air?

Indeed, there *are* those of us that appreciate and understand your brave sacrifice Sam. Bee Phobics unite! Yeah baby!

Okay folks, I am starting up the "Shoreleave" mailstring for this year. Looking at this thread, I see nine of us saying we will be coming to Hunt Valley in July. If anyone else is planning on attending, please post it here and/or let me know at [email protected].

Thanks!

Mailstring? Excellent.

I'll be sending out some of my tactical ideas via mail for smuggling Dominic Keating out of the Con and taking him home, so I may need accomplices to watch the exits.

Okay folks, it's just a little over two months until ShoreLeave East. As of now, I have the following people noted as going. If you are not on the list, but you plan to go (uhh, and you want to let us know about it), please post something here and/or send me an e-mail, to [email protected].

Thanks.

Have fun, guys. As usual it butts my annual trip to the Motherland so i can't do both. Drink something blue in my honor and complain about how i've deserted you and do nothing for the forum. :)

Darlin, this time of year, a bit early for the little slow bumblebee's your' thinking of. What you most likely had, were carpenter bees. Effectively, like a giant termite, theylike to bore into wood, mulch, or your home. I got one of the little ....ok, I delted that word, but had one get up my pantleg and sting me last week when I was using my foot to move some mulch back in place. Only females can sting, males are purely drones....oh wait....sorta mimics real life eh?
