Missing The Party

Kania walks into her quarters. Her face has a bit of a gloom on it still from what all had happened with this last mission. As she enters, Schawana runs towards her greeting her happily with a paper in her hand. "Mommy Mommy, Holly has invited us to the holodeck for the annual holiday party. Its supposed to start in 20 minutes. We are Going right? I may something for Auntie Blu in school. I wanted to give it to her in front of all of the crew."

 

Kania looked down at her excited Daughter and then knelt down in front of her. "Honey, Mommy's sorry but I don;t think we will go this year. Auntie Blu is really mad at Mommy and it wouldn't be a good thing if I went near her while she's this upset at me. I'll tell you what, I'll have Jenna take you down so you can give your gift to Auntie Blu. Auntie Blu is mad at mommy not at you. You wait here and I'll go tell Jenna."

 

Schawana watched as her mother stood up and walked towards the sitter and explained her wishes to her. Jenna approached Schawana and took the little girls hand. "Come on Schawana, lets go give your gift to the Admiral. Then you have to come back and get in bed so the Man in Red can bring your presents to you."

 

 

"Wait a minute Jenna I have a gift for my Mommy too. Let me go get it for her. It might help make her look happy again." Schawana ran off to her room and brought out a second package wrapped in Silver foil with a blue ribbon tied around it. She then proceeded to take it to her mother who was sitting on the couch in their living room area petting on one of the tribbles. She placed the package on the couch next to Kania. "Mommy I made this for you. Can you open it now?"

 

Kania placed the tribble on the floor and allowed it to roll around a bit. She then picked up the package and opened it with Schawana and Jenna sitting there watching. Jenna was all smiles. "Hurry mommy hurry up and open it." Kania smiled and pulled the paper off to reveal a painting that you could tell her daughter had done herself. She smiled real big and opened her arms to Schawana.

 

"It's wonderful Schawana I love it," she told the child as she jumps into her arms. She hugged her tightly for a few moments choking back the tears. If nothing else on this ship, her daughter still loved her and gave her the feeling of being needed. "I love it sweet heart."

 

After a few moments of embracing Schawana pulled away a bit. "We'll be back in a little While Mommy. I want to give this to Auntie Blu before the party is over."

 

Kania nodded to the two of them as Schawana grabbed the package for the Admiral and run to Jenna taking her hand. "I hope Auntie Blu likes what I made for her. Bye Mommy." Jenna just nodded as they exited the quarters heading for the Holodeck and the party.

 

Kania picked up the tribble and began petting it once more. This would be the first Holiday party that she had missed since she came aboard. But she knew that since the Admiral was mad enough at her to drop her not just one rank but two and to take the XO spot away from her, that she had better lay low and not show her face until the Admiral had had time to cool down. Although she could not blame her in the least for taking the drastic measure, she knew she well deserved it if not being tossed off the ship entirely. Kania was happy that Blu didnt take that action. It would take time but The Admiral may forgive her, sooner or later. She just had to stay out of her way until that happened.
