Just having graduated the Starfleet Academy I have been assigned as assistant engineer aboard the USS Challenger. We have been dispatched by Starfleet to open communications with planet 892-IV, Magna Roma. As representatives of the United Federation of Planets, we will be negotiating trade agreements and building diplomatic relations with key figures of the world’s government. We are expected to observe First Contact protocols with an awareness of Prime Directive concerns. We will also be investigating how a mid-20th Century level planet was able to technologically advance so greatly in only thirty years.

 

After meeting with the Chief Engineer, Abe Kas, I was given my first assignment: completed a full diagnostics on the ships impulse engines. Once finished I had the opportunity to become better acquainted with the technical specifications and deck layout of the ship. The Quartermaster has assigned me all of my personal equipment including my engineering tool kit and PADD. I am still awaiting my permanent quarter assignment.
