TWOK Uniform

I was considering buying this Wrath of Khan type Starfleet uniform off ebay.

I know it's missing the belt, rank pin, and badge. If I buy this uniform along with the other accesories it will amount to $160 complete with shipping. This is by no means the best uniform replica I've ever seen, but its a lot cheaper than most. Do you think this is a good deal?

The purchase would be up to you Leila.

I used EBay (also known as the Pit of Never Ending Other People's Stuff) to purchase 4 action figures and 2 vehicles from the old ThunderCats 80's show. The items are in good shape, as are the vehicles.

My account has been canceled for a while, and I never tried for costumes or clothing, but here are some concerns I'd have:

- Is the TWOK uni tunic really worth it, especially with the missing accessories that you would need to purchase from another sellers lot?

- Have you checked out any online costume sites that might be selling a complete TWOK uniform? And a new Item?

- If that costume was worn by somebody else and not new, that also might be kinda gross...toys are one thing (and can be cleaned off), but parasite bugs such as lice can't nest in plastic.

- Item storage: mildew on the fabric might be a concern.

Well I'm not even close to an expert, but if my knowledge means anything that's a pretty good deal. The decision is yours but I'd probably take it if I had $160, and a place to put it.

For the record (especially if you're planning to wear it) --

About six months ago I bought a uniform custom-made to my size specifications for about a hundred and fifty dollars. The end result did not actually fit or match up to the images I had submitted.

When it comes to costume stuff, you're more or less going to get what you pay for, and anything under three or four hundred dollars will not come up to particularly high-level quality.

That being said, it's really fun to say that you have a costume at all. :D So if it's something you're interested in and that you feel you can afford, go for it.

The seller is offering to make the uniform to the buyer's specifications. It also has a 14 day money back warranty.

I'm mainly asking, does the uniform look good? Movie-replica wise? I saw other costume store places that sell better for $300-$1000. I looked over the other items I'd have to get and they look alright. They'd have to be sewn on sure, but that's no problem.

EDIT: The uniform itself is $80, it's just that the price racks up with the other stuffs and shipping.

I dunno, I think I like this one better...

It costs a little more, but it's a lot more classy than the first one AND it has more jewelry. =0]

I'll own that one's nicer, there's one I like even better for $95 elsewhere, but I was thinking the best chance for an appropriate size is a tailored one. Hmm.
