Mission Briefing

Date: November 3rd, 2389

Time: 0830 hours

Location: Hyades Epsilon-2 I, Goldrock colony

Status: alert, cloak active

For two months the crew of the renegade Klingon Bird of Prey QoB (one of many so-named vessels) has made a perilous journey from the borders of Klingon space to the Hyades star cluster deep within Federation territory. Guided by electronic instructions seeded throughout the region by their mysterious Bolian benefactor, they have collected the components they will need to complete their mission -- the theft of a shipment of tritanium awaiting pickup at the Goldrock colony's mines. They have finally arrived at Goldrock, but a Starfleet crew that has been organized to pursue and neutralize Klingon pirate groups has picked up their trail and is in pursuit. Time will be short and caution vital.

The Goldrock colony is divided into a settlement housing the miners and their families and the network of tritanium mines which runs throughout the neighboring canyons. Straddling the canyons on the outskirts of the settlement is Starfleet's security outpost; it houses a security staff of no more than twenty, but many of the miners are rumored to be armed and capable of defending themselves. A route to the subterranean chamber where the tritanium shipment is currently being stored has been provided.

Priority one will be preventing the colony from contacting Starfleet Command. Instructions have been provided for modifying the stolen Starfleet communications beacon to generate a powerful dampening field capable of blanketing the entire colony and jamming even Starfleet's most sensitive channels. This function will require a lot of power, too much to maintain the field and QoB's cloaking device at the same time.

Once the colony's comm channels are jammed, a team will have to retrieve the tritanium from the mines. Unfortunately, electromagnetic interference from the mining equipment prevents accurate matter transport into or out of the canyons. The tritanium will need to be picked up and transferred to QoB in the armored car's cargo hold, an effort which will require at least ten trips. Luckily, the car's unique equipment configuration will prove invaluable in moving the team into and out of the mines expediently.

When all of the tritanium is securely stored in QoB's hold, the crew may proceed to the rendezvous with the buyers. Hopefully, some means of evading Starfleet pursuit will be discovered ...
