Memory Alpha Issues

For those that use Memory Alpha for Trek research be warned it seems their site may have been compromised. Over the last two days when I've accessed it my browser has switched to other sites, closed down, or started other "virusy" actions. Nothing I haven't been able to quickly cancel out of but unsettling none the less.

 

So you may want to avoid that site for a little while unless you have active virus protection going on.

Oh, dear God. Thanks for the heads up. Don't need to tell me twice to stay the heck away.

 

Funny thing is, I *don't* use Memory Alpha that much...maybe once every few months -- if that -- to look up some random bit of information.

I haven't noticed any issues myself (but then again I keep my browser locked down like Alcatraz), but I'll keep an eye on it. I have noticed a lot more in the way of invasive ads, annoying screen-crossing surveys and the like, though. I know it takes $/£/¥/€/etc. to keep a site of that nature up and running but geez. They've boldly gone where no one should go, site-wise.
