The Federation Council sent Manticore to the quiet planet

of Oppo, to see why it has gone silent and is no longer

registering life signs from sensor sweeps of the sector.

Our sweeps from orbit confirm that there are no lifesigns on

a planet that should have billions. A landing party has been

taken captive by a robotic enemy calling itself "The Network"

and has been separated into one group for data storage and

one for "the farm." The Inspector General has ordered the

ship to leave the team and return home ASAP, while the

Manticore science team discovered a unique alloy in the

captured satellite that makes the device sensor neutral. A9

ordered Garn to disable the ship's engines and the two of them,

along with Precip, have commandeered the Chimera and are

headed to the surface, all while ready to kill each other.
