Deck 14: NNC Compromised

Note: this log is set during the 10 minute TBS.

10.08.09

USS Agincourt NCC-81762

“Deck 14: Marine NNC Compromised”

Location: Marine NNC (No Name Central) Command Area

Commander Kansas ‘Will’ JoNs was hunkered down behind the rather large bulk of one of the ‘Courts resident Marine soldiers as she tried to get an internal communications link up and running on a portable battlefield comm unit.

Personal comm lines by way of the communicator pins were temporarily interrupted both into and out of the NNC. Soltan soldiers had breached the Marine deck, and the Marine fire teams and Security patrol teams assigned to guard the deck were putting up a fight and dealing with the hostile boarders. If JoNs could either use the portable unit to get some outbound wireless juice, or even to boost their personal wireless comms, then they could call for some much needed backup…if there was anyone available to back the NNC Gropos and Squids up.

What had been the NNC command center and backup for the main bridge had degraded into a scene of controlled chaos. It was a blur of urban camo gray or black fatigues and Security gold jackets as ‘Court Marines and Security Guards flew this way and that as they protected their home turf and their ship and their friends’ lives. Interface consoles had been smashed or exploded, there were scorch marks across a few of the separation bulkheads, and soldiers and guards had taken cover behind partitions, officer furniture, lounge area furniture, and sadly, a dead body of a comrade as several Soltan boarding teams tore through the deck skirmish area. The remaining Marines and SEC guards on point guard were holding the area admirably, but there was an air of desperation on the recycled and smoky air as the remaining teams stationed in the marine command area were running out of options.

The Caitian executive officer had managed to hook up with one of the secondary fire teams who had lost two of their crew in the pell mell skirmish blossoming across the NNC deck. The golden furred cat was barking orders to surviving teams like, well, a Marine drill instructor; she was certainly in the right territory for it.

“You and you!” The ships exec pointed a paw at black fatigue clad Marines, “join up with the Epsilons, they need some backup with the southern corridor access points.” Her paw now flew to points towards a few gold jacket wearing Security grunts who had also made it through the first few skirmishes unscathed, “You guys! Go with Omega and see if you can find out what happened to the junior recon patrol that we had guarding the NNC armory access…and get word to the secondary squads that they are authorized to move forward and retake any compromised corridor or access positions!”

The entire immediate area then exploded in light and sound as one of the Soltan incursion teams detonated what amounted to their version of a flash bang grenade; JoNs and everyone ducked and covered to avoid the scathing light and sound show.

JoNs had to admit that the upgraded Tactical Proximity Sensor Body Armor (or PSBA for short) and the Bio Sign (BS) Detectors were working beautifully; any advantage that enabled the on call repel teams to deal with the raider boarding parties was welcome.

Within the last eighteen hours -- while they had all been waiting for all hell to break loose -- the Marine and SEC patrol squads had been given rudimentary training on the combat armor vests and detectors thanks to Gunnery Sergeant Hefner and a few of the other senior NCOs that might have had the tactical knowledge regarding the new toys. The feline commander currently wore her own vest under her red hued command jacket, the front flap of the jacket left open and showing the dark combat vest underneath.

Technology wise, all of the BS Detectors had been wirelessly configured and updated with the appropriate Soltan data in order to scan for the particular genetic signature of the enemy. JoNs had her own BS device secured to her left forearm by way of a combat protection sleeve, and for the most part had been tracking the Soltan soldiers body by body and very clearly. And the combat vest had saved the feline from a couple of nasty potential injuries.

Tactical armored vests were wonderful, and the equipment was invaluable to an officer who served within either the Marine or Security branches of the Starfleet. The vest was constructed and rated to protect a wearer from weapons fire, that much was certain. Yet, everyone defending the NNC sensed that their advantages and time were both running out as the blue skinned and plasticized Soltan soldiers methodically beat them back at every corridor or waypoint within the deck area.

After that last flash assault in the main common area, Kansas and the remaining fire team that had not been compromised or taken out or sent off to bolster various other positions on the Marine deck had holed up in the main locker room and were covering all entrances and exits and holding back the straggling Soltan incursion team as best they could. The enemy soldiers seemed to be blatantly aggressive at wiping out anything that moved that wasn’t a blue skin such as them, any Agincourt Andorian crew members aside.

In a small section of her brain that wasn’t occupied with keeping herself and the remaining teams alive, the Caitian senior officer recalled that a couple of short days ago she had broken up a couple ‘getting it on’ and had words with one half of the guilty party, Matthews, regarding the whole incident that had happened within this same exact area…and life had indeed been much simpler then.

Once the ‘Court soldier covering the one entry was blown back by an enemy energy beam that had the reverberating retort of an old fashioned shot gun within the locker area, a strange looking circular device was tossed through the now exposed doorway and smack dab into the middle of the locker room area that the teams were trying to hold. It didn’t take a genius to realize it was another Soltan version of a grenade.

The flash bang stunned and knocked back the remaining occupants of the locker room, taking out two more members of the remaining fire team, leaving only JoNs and the big soldier acting as her protection to try and stem the tide of blue bodies that were encroaching.

Both the feline and dark skinned Human male turned to take on the existing threat as one, phaser rifles raised and sighting down; sadly though, they didn’t stand a chance in hell and had reached the end of this particular standoff.

The protection detail soldier that had been watching over the felinoid Ex Oh as she worked on the comm unit was dispatched quickly with a wavering subspace beam shot to the chest that knocked him down and out cold before he hit the decking, and then the two man (or woman…couldn’t really distinguish gender with these blue Soltan buggers, let alone trying to get used to the whole four arms thing) Soltan assault team went for Kansas as she attempted to scramble out the secondary entrance to the locker room, firing beam weapons in her wake.

The feline was met by a third member of this particular enemy fire team, and shim/hir merely backhanded the shorter Cait across the muzzle with the butt of one of the strange Soltan rifles, sending the now stunned and disoriented feline flying in a flash of golden fur and command red into the nearby lockers with a muted thud.
