Focus

Xandra walked back to the Qob's medical bay thinking back on her conversation with Mench. The man was really getting under her skin in more than one way. She could not size him 100 % but she knew instinctively that underestimating him would be a terrible mistake. " You're always one step ahead of the game " she had told him in the cargo bay. "Even one ahead of yours X " the annoying interior voice told her.The thought made Xandra clench her fists slightly. She knew she should be laying low , staying under the commander's radar, but she couldn't help herself. For Xandra everything was a series of mind games, a power struggle, and Mench was the best "opponent " she had in years . As much as clueless, malleable people like Smokey were useful they did not present much of a challenge. At times, Xandra grew bored of toying with the likes of Fox, hence why Mench was nice ....distraction.... "No times for distraction!! Nice or otherwise .... Something is going here. FOCUS! " she thought as she reached the part of the ship housing the small medical bay.

Mench had asked her if she noticed any suspicious Klingons lately . It reminded her of an incident the week prior, one she had dismissed without a second thought . Suffering from mild insomnia since her "transfer" to the QoB , she often walked the corridors at night . Even if it wasn't helping her find the sleep she was looking for, it was , as almost everything Xandra did, serving a purpose. Lots of things took place at night, even more so on a rogue Klingon ship, and the doctor was someone who liked to keep herself informed, never knowing when a certain piece of information could come in handy . 5 days prior to the quasi fiasco on Gandora , she was having one of her long sleepless nights and decided to swing by her office to verify that the list of supplies needed for restocking was indeed completed as she requested. The wall chronometer displaying 03:28 was the first thing she noticed as she entered her office. The second was a rather large Klingon with his back turned as he was rummaging through her desk. Middle of the day or middle of the night , Xandra was not the kind of woman to let her guards down. She had her blade pulled out, aimed at the smelly male 's throat , even before he noticed her presence. She could smell the bloodwine on his breath as he turned around. It didn't stop her from asking in her usual overly sweet voice " Any medical emergency I can help you with ?" her icy glance a obvious clash with her voice . The Klingon stuttered , almost passed out on her chair , mumbled what she took for an apology before exiting her office , hitting the door frame as he passed it . Satisfied that nothing was missing from her office and that , as far as she could tell, nothing sensitive was accessed from her terminal. She dismissed the incident as another side effect of Klingons being Klingons and of bloodwine flowing a little too freely on this ship.

Xandra was cursing herself inwardly when she reached her office. " This is what happens when you loose your focus .. you get sloppy!!" First that Bird of Prey decloacking right in front of us, then the two Klingons on Gandora that seemed to know about Sargh and about the QoB in general and now the drunken Klingon and Mench mentioned having witnessed 3 more incidents involving an unfamiliar Klingon. " What's really going on here ?" That was the question Xandra promised herself to find an answer to .
