I heard from HD's family that the surgery took about 6 hours and they were able to remove all of the tumor without affecting him at all.  He should be home in a few days and we can get the full scoop from the man himself.

God Speed, HyperDrive!

Cigars?  The guy gets his head cut open and the first thing you do is clog his lungs!?

WTG HD!  We await hearing all the gory details in person!

To a speedy recovery (and return to simming!)...

Thank you all for your prayers and hopes.

I am now home... which is wonderful. Pretty much all I am doing now is sleeping and eating, which actually isn't that bad. :D

I'm moving around some. I am walking back and through the house. With any luck at all, I will only need one more hospital visit to get these staples pulled from my head... 28 of them in all.

But, I am doing well. Surgery on Friday morning, home Monday afternoon, and online Tuesday morning... I'd say I'm doing okay. heh heh

Thanks a bunch to all of you. It's been a weird month, but it's starting to get... better.

::shakes head:: Staples, stitches...they're both YUCKY! You should have insisted on that new medical super glue they're advertising on TV. You know, the stuff that looks and sounds a lot like plastiskin.  :-)

::hands HD a cherry flavored Tootsie Pop:: No matter what, it's good to have you back!  Stitches, staples and all. And stick to the lollipops. They're not as bad for you as those cigars someone is passing around.  :D

I am so glad to hear that you are recovering well. Sounds like the surgery was a success.. and that you are back home and online is wonderful news!!

I hope your recovery continues going well, and that you'll be back to all your normal activities soon!

Looking forward to seeing you drop by an academy or two!!

Hey HD, congrats on your recovery. I only wish a dermal regenerator exists so you could have avoided those stiches. When I was about 6 (I'm 24 now), I'm told I fell off a retaining wall and had about 20 stiches in the back of my head. I remember nothing... except pain.

I just want to say this... It's amazing what humanity's primitive medical technology (at least compared to ST) can do. And it's only going to get better from here.

May you have a speedy recovery.

Just an update (for anyone who wants it):

The first pathology report I received about the tumor turned out very good... it was about as good as a brain tumor report could be. It was a Level 1 somethingorother, and only required me to come back once a year for an MRI to make sure the tumor didn't come back.

However, the second report I received (from another doctor) came back different from the first one. She had stated that some small things looked as if they might be of a higher-grade tumor, and sent back her results. From what she said, I'd probably have to undergo radiation or something like that.

Well, we had two conflicting reports. So, my neurologist had the tumor sample sent off to M.D. Anderson in Houston, where (as of now) it is being looked at. We are still waiting to hear back from them as our third opinion.

I will actually be flying down to Houston tomorrow afternoon, probably only to speak with the doctor, etc. Hopefully by then, their pathology report will be complete, and we will know for certain what type of tumor it is. If all goes well, I'll only be at M.D. Anderson for two or three days.

Unfortunately, we still do not know what is going on. I continue to ask for your prayers and hopes as this process continues.

Thank you all.

~HD

Of course we want the update, to paraphrase Kirk talking about Spock - Do you have any idea how much STSF has invested in you?!!

Keep your spirits up and know that we are all thinking of you, praying for you, rooting for you, and wishing you the best in all of it.

This is *NOT* a Kobyashi Maru, this is a winnable situation, DEFINITELY!
