A Brief Respite

Finally things were calming down a little. Their attacker's ship had been destroyed and it was now time to clean the mess. Nick was glad there hadn't been any fatalities this time, although he had been busy in the OR for the better part of the past two hours. Now he was sitting in his office, sipping a cup of coffee while preparing for the next surgery. He sighed as he thought of how short-staffed he was.

 

Mimi had been injured in the attack. Though her injuries were mild, she wasn't going to be back on duty until at least tomorrow. The rest of his staff was still busy in sickbay or cargo bay 2 as they were taking care of the crewmen who had been hurt in the attack. So it was just him and Syral, his new Vulcan medic, in the OR.

 

Finishing his coffee, Nick got up in search for Syral. He located the Vulcan in main sickbay, checking on the vitals of a young Ensign. Nick asked him to be ready for their next surgery in 15 minutes before going to the locker room to change into fresh scrubs. On his way there he shot a quick glance over to where Ambassador Drankum was being treated by Lillian. He couldn't help but smile. As stressful and exhausting as surgeries could be, he was still glad he was headed for the OR right now and not Drankum's bedside.
