Mine went quite well.

Our family normally goes out on the lake for the 4th, but since we sold our boat, we couldn't go out very far. :D

So, this year, we went and spent some time on the "Great Lawn" on the Ohio River bank in Louisville. Joe Cocker sang, along with a few others I had never heard of, and the fireworks were great. It wasn't Thunder over Louisville by any means, but it was still good. :)

The Great Lawn is a feat in its own. Once a large junkyard, it was the first thing people from Indiana saw when they crossed the 2nd Street Bridge (and I-65, for that matter) into Louisville. The city spent loads of money buying the property, and then eventually putting grass on it. Heh... and it's not regular grass; it is treated from underneath the dirt. Expensive, yes... but it is now very nice.

So, to answer the question, my 4th of July went really well. I miss the lake, but it was good while it all lasted.

Happy Independence Day, folks. :P

I worked. I am a fire dispatcher. I live in CA where things burn this time of year. We have a burn ban.

Guess what?? Idiots still decide they need to light off fireworks. People set cars and other people on fire.

And to top things off.. found out my shift will be changing this week. Love the notice.

So, it was the 4th of July??? Just another day in the summer time to me....

Hey there,

My 4th was actually better than usual. Normally my family is spread out all over the state and can't get together. However....

2003 was different. A relative came down to attend a funeral on 7/5. As a result, another relative wanted to take her out to dinner so a group of 4 of us went out for dinner and talked 7/4. After that, met another relative at the house and shot off some fireworks for an hour. :D

And, perhaps the most important thing, the Flag was out in front of my place by 8:30am. :P

Mine was OK.  I went to a parade in the morning, got a mild sunburn, BBQd a steak with my dad, and had an excellent spot for the fireworks display.

Speaking of fireworks, then you probably wait until labor day to witness the great display the have spanning the bridge from Cincinnati to Kentucky.  That was one of the best fireworks shows of all time.

My fourth was wonderful.  I wish you all the same.

I was in the woods with the Cub Scouts and we were involved in pellet riflery, archery, swimming, boating, handicrafts and the ever popular slogging through the mud (on the 3rd, we got 3½ inches of rain) while scratching your leg skin off to get to the BUG BITES!!!

I worked.  Someone has to keep the malls open.  We are the few the proud the mall employees.  Oh yes indeed.  I mean where else is everyone going to come get movies after all.  I mean Suncoast is the coolest place on earth after all.(followed very closely by Vegas).

The fourth ... we drove up to the north side of town to see how far into the canyon the forest fire spread.  Terrible to be able to see the flames amid all the smoke and in broad daylight.

Hours spent packing boxes and working in the yard to get everything ready for the Housing Nazis.  Later we went over to the park and watched the kids climb rockwalls, jump in jumpy castles and drink beer.  Suprisingly, even with a 60,000+ acre forest fire burning less than 10 miles away the city and the base went ahead with fireworks.

The Serivces Squadron out did themselves and provided a nice display.  Afterwards we walked home to the glow of the forest fire.  Moving towards water is sounding better and better.
