First, off Welcome.

As for no one being in the chat rooms, sometimes it can be hit or miss. However, the schedule is posted on the main page for Academies and advanced sims. Saturday nights are slightly different with the Red Star in-character chat at 11pm, Eastern with the Academy following at midnight.

The Academy schedule is as follows:

  • Sundays at 3pm
  • Mondays & Wednesdays at 10pm
  • Tuesday, Thursday & Fridays at 9pm
  • Saturdays at midnight

We require graduation from the Academies (where everyone's human, and even GMs playing are cadets) before participation in an Advanced Sim. And it's strongly suggested that anything outside of established Canon be approved by the Advanced sim GM team.

That being said, I'd recommend reading: How to sim, as well as: Tips from the Moose

For all your technobabble needs, visit Memory Alpha or Ex Astris Scientia.

I'm confused about how to play but i generally get the idea that I have to attend the academy like you just said, since I'm central it will be at 11...hmmm, just trying to get everything sorted so I can get this ball rolling. Since i dont technically have a character/or graduated I cant attend the red star?

Red Star doesn't count as an advanced sim. If anything, it's a place to meet, chat up friends, make new friends, and learn, informally, how to sim.

it's also recommended to save true character development until you've graduated and are in an Advanced sim. As I said, everyone's human in the Academies.

The links Will provided in his first post can be helpful for getting started. You can also look at some chatlogs of previous academies at http://www.stsf.net/forums/index.php?showforum=25 to get an idea of how the games run.

I look forward to seeing you in sim! :P
