What Happened?

I originally joined a couple of years ago. At that time I could enter the chat rooms and there would always be at least some people there. But now, to my sorrow, people are never there except to simm. What happened to the comradery that I always saw?

I wouldn't know. I've gone to the chat rooms once in a while to see if anyone wanted to just chat ... or perhaps to 1:1 RP some miscelaneous irrelevant character developing stuff. No one was ever there, so I assumed that misc. chat was against some rule I was unaware of.

Perhaps that is what happened: we newbies show up not knowing any better, and since chat pretty much is empty except for RPs we assume that the way it is = the way it aught to be. It's a logical falacy, I know, but it is a course of assumption which is often taken.

There is no rule against going into the rooms when nothing is scheduled, but we do not want anyone to be running any sort of RPG in our rooms that is not sanctioned by a GM. There is the assumption that any "game" happening on our site is an STSF game and we don't want people just coming in and running anything they want at off-hours that would give the impression that it has been approved.

If folks want to come in and use the rooms for general chatting, that's fine. Enjoy yourselves, but be aware that chat logs of our rooms are distributed to the GMs each day and we see everything that is said, all day long. It is possible that knowing this could have the effect of keeping people from using the rooms. Please know that we would only scrutinize chat logs if someone were to complain to us of harassment or abuse.

Thanks.
