Hi Mom,

 

As ordered, Lieutenant, I am reporting my safe arrival on the Republic. Sorry; a little humor. The ship is gorgeous, and the quarters are nice. Being an officer has its perks; you were right (as always). I got transferred from Security to Science! Dad wouldn't be thrilled, but that's okay. My Chief is an android – it's a little peculiar, I guess I'd just never thought I'd meet one. She's cool though. Actually, to be honest, everyone is really helpful. I can't tell you what my first action experience was like (classified, I know you understand), but this is an exciting ship. I've already logged a couple hours on the Bridge! And you wanted me to go on an orbiting Science Station; not nearly as fun.

 

Since I know you're asking, no, I haven't found a woman. Quit asking.

 

The food here isn't bad. I've been able to eat mashed potatoes and waffles! Having a replicator at my disposal is a luxury I never quite got to experience back home. Speaking of, did you get any takers on the house? I know Cleveland isn't exactly San Fransisco, but I would have thought someone could get some use out of it. How are Muffy and the kittens? I regret not being able to see the birth, but the pictures you sent...well, actually, they were kinda gross.

 

I don't know how much I'll be able to correspond in the next couple of months. Things are very very busy here, and I'm starting to get responsibilities. Don't worry about me though; this is a Galaxy-class ship. Probably even safer than that orbiting hunk of metal you call an Observation Post. At least we have weapons! In all seriousness, I'll try and keep in touch whenever I can. Tell Muffy I said hello.
