"Ancient Possibilities"

Sar'vek glared at the assemblage of the latest... things -- artifacts seemed too ancient a word for the anachronous weapons and data modules that had been found at the site, and wished that sheer willpower could explain exactly why they were there.

Clearly something nonnative had infiltrated the planet at some point in the past; a child could see that much. Unfortunately, beyond that, the facts were few, and until they had some dates on the bones and the comparisons with the Lloanns'su data had been finished, there wasn't much that could be done aside from speculation. Speculation, on the other hand, was something Sar'vek was rather good at -- scientists usually were, since ninety percent of the time it was all they could really do.

They had found the anomalous skeletons and technology at the temple complex, not at the mass-grave, which made her lean towards the idea that they'd come after the volcanic eruption had made the inhabiting species of the planet extinct -- the corpses weren't apparently associated with the execution-style killings, so any theory tying that site to the aliens wasn't particularly well-rooted.

A motive for their presence was easier to figure out -- latinum -- though it may have been rather presumptuous to assume that the aliens were captivated by the liquid as the Rihannsu were. But there was still the fact that they left corpses on the planet. Had the alien crew been guilty of the same thefts as the Talon engineers?

And for the Elements' sakes, who were they? Clearly humanoid, since they were similar-looking to the rest of the skeletons enough to be taken for native-bones without a genetic scan. Sar'vek was very curious to see if Morgana would be able to determine a cause of death from the few bodies that they had found; that would shed some light on the matter. Somehow she doubted that they were Lloanns'su -- they generally would na leave bodies on the planet, as far as she knew... they were sentimental that way. As for any other species... that was anybody's guess. She did na recognize the artifact-technologies that they had found, so that was na use unless the databanks turned up something.

Databanks. Sar'vek considered for a moment, picking up one of the datachips between thumb and forefinger and examining it, then looking at some of the small-unit-ports on her multicorder. Oh, h'nah... this could be a lead...
