Snoop Leader Duty Log-2

GSgt Mike Hefner

139th Marine Batallion

USS Agincourt - Avaros

It'd been a long time since Snoop had such an easy roundup, and Mike figured it would be their last. Easy one, that is. The seven they brought back to camp an hour ago were hardly worth the bother; they were lackeys planted to guard the supplies and deliver them when they were needed. The big fish, the ones that really mattered, were elsewhere, and chances are those they brought back to camp didn't have a clue where, or even who they were. But there was still a chance that Caine and Matthews would get something out of the snake that toasted JoNs and Mical.

All this ran through Mike's head while he sat on a cot in the CGC Marine tent, Dog leader Grafton beside him, both cleaning their gear, checking it, then stowing it for the next out. Marine Sgt Jack Grafton hailed from Tulsa. He hadn't worked alongside Mike for long, but they'd hit it off immediately. Jack had saved his six more than once, so Mike figured he could forgive him for being an Okie.

During recon Mike had gathered intel that he passed up the chain asap. It included the group's discussion of working with the Soltan, the presence of several other cells on the planet, and a strange bunch of words they tossed back and forth that almost sounded like code: planet shaker, back door, deep chamber, red storm. One particular word was spoken with great respect: Hadrian. It sounded like a name but Mike wasn't about to make any assumtions. His job was recon; the intel guys handled the rest.

Speaking of rest, chow time was nearly past and Snoop and Dog hadn't had a square in a few days. Then they'd catch a few before the next out. Sleep when you can was the order. It might be your last for a long time.
