Introductions

A newbie here, who just wanted to pop in and say hello. I attended my first sim tonight and had a great time, so it looks like you are all stuck with me.

I watched the new Star Trek film the other night, and it reinvigorated my interest in the franchise, but honestly my star trek knowledge is a little rusty; I grew up watching voyager, tng reruns, and occasionally some ds9, and I am currently watching all of the TOS online. Additionally I have no real outside simming experience, but I consider myself to be a fast learner, so hopefully I won't be a bumbling doe-eyed cadet for too long.

Thanks for your time, and if you have any advice or sage words of wisdom, please let me know!

Hey, Kilby -- welcome to STSF! Glad you enjoyed your first acad and hope you have a great time here!

Definitely check out the Tips from the Moose which will help you get a handle on simming conventions, and Memory Alpha, probably the best Star Trek reference around. Also everyone around here will be glad to help you out, so feel free to ask questions. :(

Best of luck and again, welcome!

Hey Kilby. As the next to most recent noob (unless somebody else joined that I didn't notice), welcome... and trust me, I have never watched a single episode or movie or anything until this last weekend... so if I can do it, your "rusty knowledge" won't mean ######, lol.

By the way, where did you find the online episodes? Been looking for a good resource... but all the youtube ones have chunks that have been removed due to copyright ######, and the few other sites I've found take 3 days to load an episode, lol.

CBS.com has all of TOS up online, available here: http://www.cbs.com/classics/star_trek/

And thanks Samantha for the tips; I've been vigorously reading memory alpha over the past few days and it has helped me come up to speed.

I look forward to simming with ya' both!

'Not available in your region'. Stupid American companies. First that SNL link somebody posted, now this. I miss out on everything, lol.

Just avoid any headlights that come at you, and you'll be fine Kilby!

Welcome to STSF - this is a wicked cool site to Trek RPG on.

When you said that my mind jumped to the words, N'Dak. lol

Welcome to the game Kilby. You don't need all that much knowledge (I came here when I had only finished TOS and was in season 5 of TNG), as long as you have some basic knowledge, which Memory Alpha has.... basic and beyond.

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!

I've been aching to do another sim since my first one, but my schedule has been funky from moving into a new house and unpacking and what-not. Hopefully I'll see some of you tomorrow though (maybe this evening if I am cunning enough)!

"Introductions" seems like a good thread for my first post :)

Greetings All!

My name is Chris "Kit". I have been stalking your messageboard for a few days reading threads and chat transcripts, and learning about STSF, and am quite interested in participating in the fun! This will be my first sim of this type, so I am excited about the new experience. I have roleplayed on numerous platforms before, so hopefully I will pick this up ok.

I have put a short bio on my Profile. Long enough to convey the basics, but not to long to scare people off from learning about me. I will be tossing a picture up there later tonight.

Hopefully I will be attending the academy with in the next few days. I cant wait to get started! I always look for advice, or even idle chit-chat. I love talking, sometimes to much...

I look forward to meeting you all.

Stalking is good; I myself lurked and stalked and read the boards, logs and transcripts before jumping in to go cadet-ing.

Welcome to STSF Kit - this is a wicked cool site to do some TREK RPG simming on!
