Allen Armstrong

Settling In

Allen left the the control tower with his bag slung over his shoulder. He gave the PADD Lt. Porter had given him a look, checking the location of his quarters. He took the turbolift to his designated deck. Looking about the halls, attempting to familiarize himself with his surroundings, he made his way to his quarters. Checking the PADD once again, he punched in the code to unlock the door to his quarters, stepping inside once the doors slide open. Allen stood in the centre of the room, looking about, taking in the sight of his modest quarters. It was barren, save for the necessities. He took a deep breath, exhaling as he dropped the bag from his shoulder. It struck him at that moment. This was the beginning of the rest of his life. He was on his own now, fully, for the first time in his life. His career was just beginning. He would be receiving his final training aboard this station, so very far from home, in neutral space. Picking up his bag of belongings, he set it on the small table in the dining area. He opened the bag, taking out a wrapped package, taking from it his family portrait, which he rested on the table. He gave the photo a long look before emptying the contents of his bag. There were holophotos and framed diplomas, two books, and his clothing; two extra uniforms and a dress uniform, as well as some fashionable clothing for off-duty hours. He didn't waste much time hanging his clothing in the closet. He didn't bother with most of the photos, but he did stand the family portrait on the small bedside table before he left his quarters to report to medical.
