Question regarding senarios ...

I see from the rules that one has to earn their way to GM status. While I understand and respect the rules of the forum, I also have a senario banging about in my head.

What's a girl to do?

Feel free to PM Atragon9. He's always open to your thoughts and ideas. But don't be surprised if they're unwilling to change a system that's worked well for over 15 years. ;)

I bet most of the GM teams would love to "partner" with you on a plot idea. You should talk to your advanced sim Command Team and see what they feel about your scenario.

If your scenario is not a plot, but a concept for an entire new simulation game, that won't work within your current game. If you're looking to develop a whole new sim, we don't have any plans for opening new games right now. Of course, if the new movie brings in a lot of players and we have an increased demand for games (and, uhh, if you become a GM), we can talk!

Oh no ... what I have in mind would work for an Academy senario, perhaps a carry-over to two sessions ( as was done in the Sunday session ), but not more than that. Perhaps an Academy instructor may have some interest. It's a bit more involved than many ( though not all ) of the Academy senarios I encountered, but maybe someone would like that.

As for a new sim - well sure that would be fun, but I have a great deal more to learn before I'm ready for that and ( as you noted ), there would be a need for more participants. But then, if I did everything in the world I wanted tomorrow, what would I have to do for next week?

Sounds interesting, why don't you contact some GMs who run an Academy at a time that works for you. The worst that will happen is if they say, "No, thank you."

Of course you could do what I did once and "hijack" the Academy plot. Some GMs will let Cadets run with their ideas if they don't have developed ideas of their own.

There was one Academy where the GMs said at the beginning they didn't have a strong plot. There were a lot of positions on the roster marked as "Open". So I began looking for my AENG with the last name of Open, the idea caught on, and soon our entire crew was looking for the missing Open family. We did things like look in the mess hall because a sign outside the hall read "Open", etc.

This is not necessarily good advice if you want to graduate. If you do intend to add significant plot-driving detail to an academy plot, please PM the GM in charge first.

True. I'm not suggesting doing it unless you have some experience under you and know what is allowed and what is not. In this particular instance, however, it was OK.
