Aliana Lucindak

Don't go there, pt. 2

Aliana walked down the streets of Betazeds capital. She wore a long dark red skirt, and a cream colored blouse, with flats. Her blond hair was loose, and she walked with Nilla, who was in a pink floral blouse and dark skirt. They stopped in front of the university of Betazed. "'Kay, see you later," said Nilla, with a wave, before starting off again. Aliana walked inside the main building.

Groups of people were trickling in for the seminar. She walked up to the table by the door. "Lucindak, Aliana," she said, glancing around.

The woman nodded, and handed her a pass. She took it, clipping it on, before wandering towards a corner. She leaned against the wall, watching the other people talk. Most were scientists or doctors, here for the seminar, which would go into many aspects of other species biochemistry, using research from a 100 year long study of differing effects on different species, including Human, Trill, Betazoid, Bajoran, Klingon, Vulcan, and Andorian.

Aliana was fiddling with her hair, when someone tapped on her shoulder. She turned around, and her face fell. Erlong Pulosx stood in front of her. "What the frak do you want," she asked, glaring at him. "I told you before, we have nothing to talk about."

"Yes we do Aliana, Imnar--"

"Don't," she hissed. "Talk about him to me. I loved Imnar. The only reason he is dead, was because of a stupid accident, and one that I should have seen coming. I as good as killed him, and I am not going to talk to you about Imnar."

"He was reckless. That was not your fault," he said, frowning.

"Why didn't we notice? He was depressed, and was struggling not to fall, and we didn't notice! I will not forgive myself for that."

"Your still the same Aliana," he said. "Why do you keep throwing yourself through this? I was closer to my brother, then anyone, if anything, I should have seen it coming."

"Maybe..." She stopped glaring at him. The other Betazoids in the room turned to her.

"Ma'am," one asked. "Are you alright?"

Aliana grimaced. She had been channeling her emotions. "Fine," she said, holding them back. She turned to Erlong. "I can't blame you, but I can myself, and I can't, can't, talk about Imnar."

Erlong watched her. "I am sorry, Aliana."

"Erlong," she said, looked down at him. "Keep in touch with me... I think, I think knowing that someone understands that is going to make it, going to make less hard to bear."

He nodded. "You're still the same Aliana." He walked off, back out of the building.

Aliana bit her lip, and took a minute to calm down. People started to enter the auditorium, and she followed, keeping up the rear.

6 hours later

Aliana sat on her bed in Nilla's apartment. She had been going over some of the things of Imnars. They had been at her parents house, but she had gotten them. Most of the things were just pins, one of them was his pin from the marines, but there were some pictures. One, showed Aliana, her hair longer, but still blond, grinning and standing next to Imnar. He had dark hair, and darker eyes, and was grinning as well. She bit her lip, and took the pictures and some of the pins out, putting them in her bag. The rest, she kept in the box.

She would be heading back to Aegis in a day, but this time, instead of trying to get away from her past, she would try to keep it.
