Hello ..

Hello; I have just arrived. Hopefully I will be able to attend Academy tomorrow. I have a variety of insights on matters technical, scientific, psychological, and philosophical. A fellow cadet suggested that I consider myself a ... model of a modern Major General.

:o I regret that I do not understand.

OOC: I have not run across an indication of which era is being played - TOS, ST-M, TNG?

Welcome to STSF, T'aral -- hope you have a great time playing here!

STSF has eleven games, each of which play once a week; they are spread across different time periods. USS Hood is our TOS sim, USS Agincourt is future-era, USS Challenger is set in TOS-Movie era. The others are for the most part spread across TNG/DS9/VGR period, though Talon is set in the Romulan Empire and QoB/Lakota combines a Klingon and Federation crew.

You can find the schedule for which games play when, along with our schedule of Academy training games, at http://www.stsf.net/schedule.php .

Feel free to ask around if you have any questions. :o

An excellent way of addressing the issue. Because of scheduling, I am limited as to when I can play. Does it matter which Academy events I join, so long as I graduate?

( Forgive my delay in developing an icon / sig line - I have only begun to collect images )

You can attend whichever Academy sims you wish and as many as you wish per week; you simply cannot play on an Advanced sim until the GMs as a group clear you for graduation. This can take different lengths of time and different numbers of Academies for different people, so come on out and have fun whenever your schedule permits. :o

Welcome!

Two things to remember: 1) Any Academy hosted by STSF N'Dak is a guaranteed suicide mission [And that's a direct quote from his signature]. 2) Never compare the GMs to Captains Bligh or Queeg if you want to get graduate sometime before the turn of the century.

That being said, I'd recommend reading: How to sim, as well as: Tips from the Moose

For all your technobabble needs, visit Memory Alpha or Ex Astris Scientia.

Academy times are listed ET, so adjust as appropriate for your timezone. Academies are mandatory, and everyone is human. Save your character development for your Advanced Ship. Minimum graduation time is 3 Academies, but don't expect to graduate that quickly; the host teams prefer to see how are over a longer span of time. And once you are posted to your first Advanced Sim, it's strongly recommended that any ideas that go outside Trek canon be approved by your host team.

Welcome to STSF! Look forward to seeing you around...and I caught your G&S reference.

Hello again ... I hope my appearance is suitable.

Or, would one of these be more suitable? I am uncertain, and could go either way.

Welcome to STSF!

As for images, all we ask is that your tagline/sig block not be too large (each of those are very big). Take a look around the Boards and notice what others do for signature blocks. Thanks!

Yes, they are very big while a sig should never exceed 200 pixels high x 400 pixels wide.

I was rather hoping someone would comment on the content, rather than the format.

My personal preference - the one on the far right. More dynamic, focused, determined.

And welcome aboard!

I too would recommend the right-hand one. :-) However, bear in mind that all Academy games are played as humans -- once you've graduated you can begin constructing a bio for the specific advanced game you join.

Well, until I graduate - I'll make do as best I can.

Always good to have another io with pointy ears and superior green blood, even if she is a yy'a io.

Live long and prosper, Khre Riovt and N'Dak.

While I will concede that I have only begun the Sele-An-T'Lee disciplines, I see no reason to abandon all that I have achieved.

I thank you for the offer.

I know ... I'm changing my look again.

I got my requested post on board the HOOD, and I felt that a period uniform would be more appropriate.

Live long and Prosper, T'aral, and welcome aboard the only ship in the fleet known for it's illogical predilection for coffee and pastries, much to the detriment of the crew's health.

Given my preference for tea and whole-grain bagels I expect I will be an oddity, then.

That should not present a problem, T'aral, as I have a fondness for either green or chamomile tea with honey.

On an amusing personal note: if you type in today's date into a Microsoft Spreadsheet, then change the format to a fixed-place number and divide by 10, today's date converts to a Stardate that's right in the middle of TOS - 2nd season.

Gawd, I'm such a geek!

Yes - and removing one of the '9's in the second or third place makes it work even better. You get a better progression of numbers.

And yes - the blue uniform was bugging me, since I work in Engineering. I hope this looks good enough.

----------------------------------------

And the Sig' immediately jumps in onto everything. I should mention: the Naval Construction Contract # ( NCC-1703 ) is not standard. NCC-1707 is the Contract # according to SFTM, but I see that a different # was chosen ... whatever.

Note: This sig' image can be modified for any rank or branch of the service and customized for individual appeal - available on request.

Hello; It is agreeable to see another Vulcan starting at the Academy. I attended my first assignment this-evening. I have much to learn but the senior officers that run the Academy where helpful in pointing me in the right direction. If you have any questions I will be around and will assist you in finding the answers.
