History:

Born the daughter of a low-ranking politico and her husband, Charlotte

had a fairly normal childhood. Her mother, busy with political

ambitions left her frequently in the care of her utterly smitten and

devoted father, Ronin. Much of her time in these years was spent at

her father's side in his private dojo, where he taught karate to many

up and coming within the Fleet ranks.

When she was eight years old, however, life dramatically changed for

Charlotte. Her father, en route to meet her mother in San Francisco,

was killed in a transporter accident. An investigation revealed that

the operator, the nephew of a senior Federation Council member, had

not completed his training in the use of transporters. He was fined

and given a general discharge from service. This, combined with the

loss of her father, were blows from which Charlotte would never

recover; it shaped her perception of the Terran regime as she grew

older.

As her mother progressed in political circles, so, too, did

Charlotte's opportunities. At the age of ten, she was accepted into

the prestigious Cochrane Polytechnic, a private school geared toward

the development of gifted students...as defined by the ruling party.

It was there she would also discover the cost: After a fight on the

playground, she complained openly about her opponent and the girl's

father. Shortly thereafter the father disappeared. From that point

forward, until her graduation from Cochrane Polytech, Charlotte was

branded an informer.

Taking these lessons to heart, Charlotte also began to realize it was

necessary to "play the game" to have any illusions of freedom. She

switched her academic interests to the sciences. Her senior science

project examined other applications of subspace communications, and

was forwarded up through Fleet research and development.

At the age of eighteen, she entered Starfleet Academy. She did not

graduate first in class, but was in a dead-heat for second or third

rank. She rose quickly to the rank of LTJG with her mother's

assistance, and was eventually transferred to the Excalibur.

It was aboard the Excalibur that Charlotte reached a crossroads.

Seeking a form of ideological revenge on both the

Empire and her mother – now a member of the Council – the

young officer made the decision to assist the pirates in overtaking

the ship.

Rumors and Gossip:

Charlotte is rumored to be involved with the son of a high-ranking

admiral, believed to serve in the policy directorate. In actuality,

she has been romantically involved with Maquis-affiliate, Malcolm

Alexander. The much older Alexander was a former Fleet Intelligence

operative, and close friend of Charlotte's father until the time of

his death.
