~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the story of how, seven years ago, I died....
I grew up on one of the outer rim planets, a small speck of dust called Ralafea Prime. Small, insignificant and beautiful. Those who called it home were a bit rough around the edges. You had to be when you were on the edge of the Terran Empire frontier. Life may not have been easy....but it certainly was an adventure.
As a young woman, I studied hard and earned a scholarship to the St. Ambrose Royal Academy of Medicine back on Earth. My parents were very proud. But I struggled here. Not so much academically but the restrictive environment was restraining my.........creativity. Smothering me.
Unfortunately, in my desperation, I picked the wrong path. I married a young ambitious man who's career sounded both glamorous and adventitious. Clayton was a senior acquisitions officer for Saxon Strategic Investments, and traveled to many newly acquired properties within the Terran Empire to explore their potential. Little did I understand that this meant Saxon Inc was little more than a gloried galactic real estate developer. Like I said...I was young. And probably a bit stupid. Love can do that to you.
I wised up.. And it only took ten years to do so. Again, love can do that to you.
Apparently being the wife of a senior acquisitions officer meant serving as gracious hostess to a bunch of grandstanding upstarts. Being the medical advisor for the developments wasn't much different. I was bored. Severely, deeply, depressingly, bored. I loved my husband, but I need a break from the demands of his job placed on me. I hated my own job, and I needed to clear my head to decide what to do. So, I decided to go home f or a bit.
That's when everything got turned inside out, and I was suddenly presented with an opportunity of a lifetime.
And now, seven years later, here I am. Presumed dead to my husband and my former employers. No family to tie me down, they died in an attack on Ralafea Prime years ago. I've altered my appearance, I'm now blond where I was once brunette. I have green eyes when I once had blue. And I have a tattoo or two (or maybe three) to celebrate my independence. I do what I loved to do, and I do it very very well or these pirates wouldn't have kept me around so long.
And I'm certainly never......ever.........bored.
Viva la adventure! Viva la Rue!
