Jami Eyr Farrington is the descendent of Jonathan Kirk, second son of George Samuel and Aurelan Kirk and nephew of James T. Kirk. She bears a remarkable resemblance to her name sake, James T. Kirk, but shies away from openly discussing her family tree. Inherent in her genes is a lust for adventure, a knack for divergent thinking, and a tendency to buck authority when it is deemed necessary.

At the time of her birth Jami's parents were stationed in a remote area of Norway where they were studying a recently-discovered archaeological site atop a glacier. As soon as she could hold a brush, Jami was encouraged to work beside her parents. When she tired she was passed to a Norwegian couple whose summer cottage stood nearby. Jens and Astrid Magnus enthusiastically became surrogate grandparents to Jami, and eventually to her younger brother, Peter. The days of their formative years were spent on the dig and their evenings in the hutte where Jens regaled them with tales of Thor, Odin, Beowulf, and especially Eyr, the goddess of peace and medical skill, for whom Jami was named. In typical Norwegian fashion, Astrid furnished hours of crafts, especially spinning and weaving, with a smattering of animal husbandry and the making of geitost – goat cheese.

Jami and Peter attended the local Norwegian school until their secondary education took them to The European Alliance Embassy Academy, an elementary and secondary school closely resembling Starfleet Academy in structure and academics. During those years Jami’s holidays were often spent traveling with her father to various digs throughout the Alpha Quadrant.

Upon graduation, Jami entered the University of Oslo, graduating cum laude in environmental sciences and zoology, with minors in sociology and anthropology. Naively intrigued by family history and wanting to follow in the footsteps of her ancestor, James T. Kirk, Jami entered Starfleet Academy. She struggled with many technological courses and showed little mechanical facility. Nevertheless, in true military fashion, upon her graduation in 2353 she was posted as assistant engineer aboard USS Ranger, a deep-space exploration vessel under Captain James DiGriz. During that tour of duty she earned a medical degree. She rose to the rank of Lt Commander and was appointed Chief Medical Officer. She received the Starfleet Medal of Valor for her service during the Anaba Web encounter, which resulted in the sacrifice of the USS Ranger to save the last of the Anaba Web creatures.

During her career she received several temporary assignments, one of which was on the USS Havana under Captain Valkris Zephyer, where she studied the effects of extended deep-space duty on shipboard personnel.

When her tour of duty aboard USS Ranger ended, Dr. Farrington spent a year teaching at Starfleet Academy. There she was approached by long-time friend Atragon-9 who was recruiting for his next assignment, the newly commissioned Nebula class USS Manticore. Though Jami had grave reservations about the moral implications of serving in Starfleet’s Covert Operations, a year of planetside duty was her limit. She longed for deep space and reasoned that her presence as a medical officer aboard such a vessel might moderate more volatile temperaments. She accepted the assignment as Second Officer and, though she began as Chief Medical Officer, she has served in various positions aboard that ship. On Stardate 50999.9, she married Admiral Atragon-9 on the bridge of USS Manticore in the presence of Captain Sovak and Colonel Claire Eason.

Present posting: Second Officer, USS Manticore.
