Greetings

Well, I just signed up and now I have to wait until the chats are back up ;-; I'm going to test drive this chat thang, and then my wife will join if I think we're going to like it. I'm sure I will, as it's been going strong for years... (wow 2002)

Anyway, just to warn you guys, although I'm an ardent follower of Star Trek and reader of memory alpha, I'm not familiar with any of the duty stations... will that be a problem, or is someone going to teach me how to use one?

Also, I won't have to do anything odd like "What if we tried reversing the polarity on the EPS conduit?" right off the bat, am I? I'm sure you guys know what that will do, but... heh. I'm afraid I'd break the ship xDDD

Anyway, hallo, salud, Qapla' (sorry I've misplaced my klingon dictionary, and am out of practice as my friends don't speak it x3 )

Welcome aboard! Hope you (and your wife) have a fantastic time here!

You'll have to participate in our Academy games (one-hour training exercises -- schedule here) before you can be assigned to a weekly Advanced sim, so you'll be able to learn how the game works and how to interact with other players and move the plot along there. The GMs (and lots of us other folk) are always helpful so feel free to just ask around if any of its confusing to you. Sometimes we do break the ship in academies, too, which can be fun if done with enough enthusiasm. :o

For a start before you begin playing, I'd suggest you take a look at some of the chatlogs from games and academies (http://www.stsf.net/forums/index.php?showforum=64) and at the Tips from the Moose new player hints (http://www.stsf.net/forums/index.php?showforum=34) for some help understanding what goes on in an hour of simming; both of those are really helpful tools. If you're familiar with Trek and Memory-Alpha then you're off to a good start; plenty of people play and toss around the technobabble without even that much background, so you do have an advantage there.

Again, feel free to ask around if you have any questions and welcome to STSF! B)

B) thanks! I didn't think to read the chat logs. I'm no stranger to text based roleplays, but this would require a little adapting. However, we are borg, and we will adapt xDDD

As for Moose, I actually stayed up last night reading those. Think i fell asleep as you typed your post thar :o Well, I'm off to read the chat logs! This should be exciting!

You mentioned the Warp Core in the other thread, Warp Core, huh? Wait, don't tell me... it's uhmmm, it's that big blueish thing in the tubey thing that kinda glows, right? See that's why I a Admiral!

Welcome Bagels (and Mrs. Bagels), I hope you have a great time, but I wonder about the logic of your name, UNUSED bagels? That does not compute.

it comes from a billboard for a theme park , South of the Border, which said, "VIRGIN STURGEON! ALSO UNUSED BAGELS!"

and the warp core? blue thingy? I thought Warp Core was a kind of snack enjoyed by Ferengi! Wow thanks for the clarification!

Thanks! So should my name be Johnathon Bagels, or Bagels Malone, or Hank McBagels or something? Or should I come up with a different name and hope that people don't call me that in the chats?

OO!!! BAGELS could be my character's nickname, like B'elanna Torres is BLT!

Yeah.

Yeah.

Call me the Bagel.
