Majel Barrett Roddenberry passes away

Wife of 'Star Trek' Creator Dies at 76

Majel Barrett Roddenberry died this morning of leukemia...with her go some very integral faces -- and voices -- in the Star Trek canon. Rest in peace...

Well, that just sucks. Rest in Peace, Majel; you'll be sorely missed.

Sad indeed, but knowing that she is with Gene warms my heart. Just after Gene passed away I had the incredible opportunity to sit with her at length and talk to her about Star Trek, the Star Trek books, and Gene Roddenberry. She missed him terribly and even recently found it difficult to speak about him without tearing up. She was not only witty, but one of the most gracious ladies I have ever met.

Oh no!

You know, from Chapel on down the line to Troi, she was a fixture throughout the franchise, putting aside any behind the scenes involvement. I got very used and comfortable with hearing her voice for all the computer work on the Trek shows, and she was Luwaxanna Troi, and she owned that part; Majel Barrett took that part and ran like hell with it, and the character was awesome.

I like the fact that she was the only one who could throw Picard off his game. She rocked as a Centari in B5 too.

Very true words, Kansas. Gene wrote the part for her and she actually played herself ::grin:: And, yes - she was exactly like Luwaxanna in many ways.

It was sad to hear her death.

She was so important as a voice of Star Trek and her characters.

At length? I'm jealous. She reminds me of my mother. Reminded, rather. I remember reading on memory alpha that he had died. My wife and I were really upset.
