Sunday 3PM Academy

41 posts in this topic

Greetings,

A reminder that the Academy, specially scheduled to welcome European participants, begins today at

  • 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time
  • 8:00 PM in the UK Time Zone (London)
  • 9:00 PM in the Central European Time Zone (Germany)

This academy is open to all participants. The "European" designation is merely to allow our European friends to participate at a more sane hour (as opposed to 3AM or 4AM).

Hope to see you there!

I had almost lost hope of being able to play STSF because I am based in Europe, so it is good to see that you finally have a European freindly Academy. Unfortunately I have only just become aware of this fact, so I have missed the last two events that you held :P .

May I ask, when is the next European friendly academy scheduled for? I presume there is still enough interest for this to be continued? I would very much like to be involved in such an endeavour so that eventually I may proceed to a more advanced simulation :(.

So it is scheduled for each sunday, which is good news!! I only just noticed you said every sunday, so I edited my post :P. How popular has it been so far? On graduation what options are there then for European players?

So far, the most Euro friendly sim, is the Excalibur: Lower Decks message board game. As far as chat games are concerned Aegis may be your best and only choice if you don't work weekends. (and don't mind staying up 'till 3am)

A lot will depend on the level of interest and success this newly-scheduled Academy can drum up. If there are a lot of European players who are Academy graduates... who knows!

For the present and immediate future, come and play in this new Academy. If you graduate, hang around the same Academy to help any newer cadets have a fulfilling adventure. Become a helpful post-grad on the Academy crew!

Am I understanding correctly that there are two Academy events happening on Sundays? Or is the second time on the schedule just for the Euro cadets? :P

You are correct -- there are two academies on Sunday. One is at 3PM EST (8PM in the UK, 9PM in CET), and the other is at 9PM EST. Both of these are open to all players; the first one is just deliberately placed at a more feasible hour for European players.

Greetings to all our latest posters from across the pond! A reminder that our Euro-friendly academy will start today at:

* 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time

* 8:00 PM in the UK Time Zone (London)

* 9:00 PM in the Central European Time Zone (Germany)

Today's mission brief:

The shuttle Danube has made a desperate landing on a barren planetoid approximately 9 hours away from Starbase 36.

All hands are well except for Captain Chirakis, who was knocked unconscious by the impact.

Before we were drawn into the gravity well, HOPS did get a message to Starfleet that contained our last position.

Join us at the top of the hour in the Holodeck Chat Room.

The Academy times are:

* 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time

* 8:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time (London)

* 9:00 PM Central European Time (Germany)

All players are welcome.

A reminder that our European-friendly academy will take place this afternoon at:

* 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time

* 8:00 PM GMT, Western European Time (London)

* 9:00 PM Central European Time (Germany)

All players are welcome.

The mission will be a continuation of last week's. For the chat log from last week's academy see the Academy Sims folder.

Mission Briefing:

The Shuttle Danube has crash-landed on a barren planetoid located 9 hours from their destination, Starbase 36. Captain Chirakis is in serious condition after sustaining a severe head injury during the crash. Commander Linus has taken command of the crew and the situation. Before crashing the shuttle did relay the shuttle's position to Starfleet. However, it will be 3 hours before we are officially overdue and another 9 hours for a rescue party to reach us. Our main goal at the moment is survival. Life support and sensors are working but long-range communications and propulsion remain inoperable.

Time between sims was 3 hours; we are now overdue to SB 36 and they have begun a search, but it will take them 9 hours to reach us. Our last known coordinates were close to the planetoid.

Our warp coil has been repaired, but will it work and is the shuttle spaceworthy?

We have heard conversations over the long-range comms, but are they ones we want to break into?

In any event, we are not likely to endure much more heat and low humidity.

We have discovered a strange slime, apparently the only life on the planetoid. Hopefully it's edible as supplies are running low.

And what the heck is that strange rocking of the shuttle anyway?

Captain Chirakis is in serious condition and Commander Linus is in command.

Our warp coil has been repaired and tested. The shuttle is spaceworthy, though a bit shaky.

Supplies are running short but we have found water seeping through the sand on the surface of the planetoid. Though the source must be deep within the planetoid and is probably inaccessible by ordinary means, with ingenuity we may be able to access it. We have also found an edible slime, though it's not exactly what one would call excellent cuisine; it tastes like overcooked spinach laced with aspirin.

Ms. Kent has detected Orion pirates on a course that will pass close to the planetoid. The sun has risen and we need to brace for more heat and low humidity.

Though we are fairly confident of search and rescue from the base, we have yet to hear from anyone. However, with Orion pirates in orbit and our shuttle barely spaceworthy we have chosen to hide under a large outcropping and run silent until the pirates leave.

Supplies are running short and, although we have found a trickling source of water, getting to it is a problem because of the pirates. The sun has risen and the extreme heat is seriously taxing our systems.

During our 3 hour TBS, a small ship has landed on the opposite side of the planetoid and life signs have been detected approaching our position.

=/\=MISSION BRIEF=/\=

After several days on a barren planetoid, the crew of the Shuttle Danube has been rescued. Almost.

A special ops team had been conducting an undercover mission, watching the Orion pirates who had been looking for us.

Our shuttle, the Danube, is hidden under a large outcropping.

An away team that was looking for water is hiding not far from the shuttle.

GSgt Mike Hefner, Marine Recon Delta, saved the away team from an Orion pirate search party.

TBS was zero, so we pick up from last week.

GSgt Hefner is in the cave with the away team and has identified himself. A strategy needs to be planned for escape.
