Lieutenant Garnoopy

Personal Log Stardate 50306.11

“Catalyst”

Log Series Part V

Garnoopy sat at his desk in his quarters, the room dark as it had been a lot lately. It was time to go through his mail he knew, he couldn’t keep putting it off. He had been avoiding it, not wanting to feel the pain, but the letters weren’t going to go away, no matter how much he procrastinated.

He tapped the computer panel, and brought up his personal account. Tapping, he opened the communiqué from Starfleet Command, and read it, again.

=/\= PERSONAL COMMUNIQUÉ =/\=

From: Starfleet Command Headquarters

Location: San Francisco, Earth

Date: 50305.05

To: Lieutenant Garnoopy

Ship Assignment: U.S.S. Manticore, NCC-5852

Location: Classified

Lieutenant Garnoopy,

It is Starfleet’s sad duty to inform you off the loss of the Federation Starship IKC Qob-Lakota, and all crewmembers aboard.

The ship had just arrived home from a long mission, and were immediately moving into their next, when all contact was lost with them. The Federation sent out several ships to comb the area for any sign of wreckage, and none was found. It is known that they were working extremely close to the Romulan Neutral Zone, though no foul play is suspected at this time.

Doctor Garnoopy, your twin brother, was on board the IKC Qob-Lakota at the time, and he is presumed dead along with the rest of the crew.

We sincerely regret the loss of your family member,

Starfleet Command Headquarters

=/\= END COMMUNIQUÉ =/\=

Tears flowed freely down Garnoopy’s face. The letter was so cold, so emotionless. His brother was dead, and Garnoopy didn’t even know what had happened.
