Shore Leave 2009 - Baltimore

51 posts in this topic

For those of you who are interested in gathering in Baltimore this year, the following will be of interest. I will be there - along with hubby, hopefully - unless unforeseen circumstances drag us away.

This information arrived in email today:

Registrations for Shore Leave 31, July 10-12, 2009, are now available! You can download and print out the form from our web site: www.shore-leave.com . Guests will be announced as they are confirmed.

The Hunt Valley Inn is now accepting reservations for Shore Leave 31. Be sure to mention Shore Leave (group code SHOA) for a special room rate of $129 (plus applicable taxes) per night. If the hotel should quote you a different rate, please contact our Hotel Liaison immediately and she'll sort it out.

Please be sure to mention Shore Leave and the group code, or the hotel may tell you it's sold out for the weekend. Please check our web site for updates.

Thanks for your interest in Shore Leave!

Please remember, this is an informal gathering of adult Science Fiction fans. This is not an official STSF function. If you have any questions, please refer to the official Shore-Leave site above.

Thanks, and hope to see you there!

Totally in over here! ::bounces::

Will probably make my plans depending on what everyone else seems to be doing, as we get a little closer in, but I am definitely coming!

I'm actually considering sneaking out for a day this year. I'm not going to make a weekend out of it, but as I'm living in the DC metro area now... getting to Baltimore is not too hard to do.

I also plan on attending. Don't forget the unofficial, but enforced, rule - if you ever wanna be a GM, you gotta sit on the Admiral's lap. "What would YOU like for GMmas this year? Some cadets to train? Let's see what we can do"

FYI, there will NOT be a Shore Leave West this year. This was another unofficial annual summer gathering of STSFers that has been in Las Vegas or Orlando (hey, it's west of Titusville!) since 2003. Thanks to the economy, people's schedules and inability to commit to long-term plans, any thoughts of Vegas, New Orleans, Orlando, a cruise, etc. have been shelved for 2009.

This may mean more of the folks who went West may return to Hunt Valley this July. I guess it's safe for the original Rebel Alliance to return to the scene of the crime seven years later. The Hunt Valley Shore Leave is where the STSF GM Council, and friends, gathered in 2002 to discuss breaking away from AOL and SFOL, making an alliance with StarTrek.com and building our own Trek roleplaying forum.

(Just don't dance with Goldilocks!)

Goldilocks? I'm still suffering Post Traumatic Stress from Peter Pan!

Vegas is out for me this year since I'll be in Portland OR celebrating my little brother's (not Marx) wedding. Hunt Valley is driving distance and I'm a sucker for the California Pizza Kitchen/DSW combination

(designer shoe warehouse for the uninformed)

Hey there,

What is scary is the real irony I will have, saying everything works out, heading back to Hunt Valley. Unlike some, I haven't been back there since that fateful weekend in July 2002. For all of us to be back, there, seven years later? Wow...just...wow.

As for Goldilocks, I reserve the right to taser his....locks. I almost had to go into counseling because of that incident!

Hey sure, why not. Anyone going to ShoreLeave in Hunt Valley this year and you want to start chatting about specific plans or ideas, drop me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will start building a list. Thanks.

I hate you people. I hate Hunt Valley more. I hate that your trip doesn't directly conflict with when i'm most likely going to BA.

However... I love bluecrabs.

Now, promise to spend two evenings with me in Crabland (not joking) and I'll swing by if I can dredge up the money and find a hotel with a real pool.

Am I worth it? HELL no. But in spite of yourselves you love me. ;) And crabs are goooood. (I should know...)

Ahhhh, Maryland...where we will eat an old shoe if you pour Old Bay Seasoning on it and call it a crab.

I don't see why we wouldn't resurrect the old tradition of going out for crabs (is it Mickey's? Gilley's?) Are we going to lure Blu to the gathering?

Let me look into it, we may be doing college visits that weekend. If not...I'll see what I can do.

And get it right..the public crab gathering was at Gibby's in Timonium.

The secret gathering for the best crabs in the world however, will remain a secret for now.

Gilley's, Gibby's... I was close, but we obviously need you there, so we don't get lost or *GASP* order something that isn't crabs!
