Newbie :P

Hello, everyone!

I'm quite new to all things Star Trek (I've seen some movies and The Next generation). What really got me into it all was when I started to watch Star Trek: Voyager. :blink: (which btw is starting in a half hour). I'm based in Sweden, Europe so I don't know if I can join into a sim. :rolleyes: However, I'll do my best... :blink:

Welcome aboard, Jay!

I'm sure Will will be along eventually with his official spiel of links and resources, but let me be the first to recommend Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki and pretty much the best place ever to get Star Trek information. Also, feel free to ask around for help around here; we're all a friendly, helpful bunch. :rolleyes:

Wow, we get quite a few Europeans lately. Welcome to STSF!

I'm in Germany so I know it can be problematic to attend sims. However, the Academies on Friday (Saturday morning 3 am CET) and Saturday (that's Sunday morning 6 am CET, I think) are definitely an option if you don't have to be up early on weekends.

I sure hope to see you around the Academies!

Thanks. :rolleyes: I'll try to attend to sims at those times. Thanks for telling me. :blink:

As Nick said, there are options for Europeans. Not great options, but they are present none the less. So...

::clears throat::

Welcome!

Two things to remember: 1) Any Academy hosted by STSF N'Dak is a guaranteed suicide mission [And that's a direct quote from his signature]. 2) Never compare the GMs to Captains Bligh or Queeg if you want to get graduate sometime before the turn of the century.

That being said, I'd recommend reading: How to sim, as well as: Tips from the Moose

For all your technobabble needs, visit Memory Alpha or Ex Astris Scientia.

Academy times are listed ET, so adjust as appropriate for your timezone (which you're already contemplating or had suggested). Academies are mandatory, and everyone is human. Save your character development for your Advanced Ship. Minimum graduation time is 3 Academies, but don't expect to graduate that quickly; the host teams prefer to see how are over a longer span of time. And once you are posted to your first Advanced Sim, it's strongly recommended that any ideas that go outside Trek canon be approved by your host team.
