"Musings About Dinner"

Fiona was used to eating alone. It wasn't a bad thing -- she worked over most lunches and not a few dinners, so it wasn't as if she was lonely. To the contrary, Weber highly valued the quiet of solitude... most of the time.

 

Her dinners were always the same -- a padd of either a patient report or a medical journal, a raktajino or the occasional tea, and whatever the recommended "entree of the day" was. Chef was good about varying up the nutritional contents on the recommended menus: it saved Fiona time and effort in planning, and anything that kept her from making yet another chart was a good thing.

 

She was pleasantly surprised to stumble across the Caitian admiral on her dinner foray this night. Out of all the officers, she'd had the least dealings with BluRox, a fact which somewhat disappointed her. She'd never worked with a Caitian before, much less for a Caitian -- come to think of it, she'd never even had a Caitian patient. So, the doctor retrieved her dinner, headed over, and plopped across from the admiral.

 

Maybe she'd learn something, maybe not. The worst thing that would happen would be that she missed out on a half hour reading about the new obscure viruses published in the med-journals.
