The 'Creek is taking liberties with our own Kelvin-class deck plans -- courtesy of Commander Wesley -- until we get some sort of hardcopy confirmation on the New TOS ships.

The closest I've come to any sort of USS Kelvin images/artwork (and the book compiled aspects of the the entire 2009 film from pre-production sketches to photographs) to is Star Trek: The Art of the Film (2009) by Mark Cotta Vaz. If some sort of specification hardcopy is released for the Kelvin, I will do an Irish Jig in the streets. Or at least on the command bridge.

The fine folks at Ex Astris Scientia tell us the following:

Like millions of other fans, I have seen "Star Trek (2009)". And like pretty much everyone else who cares about starship design I was totally convinced that the new ship has to be about the same size as the original Enterprise or the Enterprise refit from the Prime Universe: around 300 meters long...

but the more or less official Enterprise Tour comes up with an overall length of as much as 2500ft (762m) for the new Enterprise. The Society of Digital Artists says that the length is 2357ft (718m). And Gizmodo Blog claims that the ship is 2379.75 feet (725.35 meters) long. And because it's apparently so much fun, the blog demonstrates how well the extremely oversized ship performs compared to other sci-fi franchises, at least size-wise. Finally, we have an extra feature on the Blu-ray disc that confirms the length of the new ship to be 2379.75 feet.

I often use this website for reference. Fantastic imagery and stats. Interestingly, yes the above information is mentioned on the site...but WOW the author proceeds to the further dispute trying to shoot them down with his prior knowledge of starships (which is impressive) the facts above. Yet he cannot argue against them. I mean he does not like facts on above at all it appears. I have to agree with his takes on the "2009" 1701 saucer section basically a TMP design. The deck lighting on the saucer is totally inconsistent with a ship of a 2300 meter size vessel. There should be more decks..I agree with him.

But in the end, no matter how much you know about starships what can you do when the producers/designers/publishers/digital imagers agree to a size you don't agree with. Print what they say..and this webbie did.
