PAX, 2008

Hey all,

I was just wondering if STSF was planning on doing something for PAX this year?

Thanks,

Ali

PAX is the Penny-Arcade Exposition. Its a gaming convention. Computer games, video games, online games, MMPORPGs, the whole shibang. It's the biggest gaming convention in the western hemisphere and it's being held in Washington state this year. Woohoo! I can't wait!

I hate to rain on your parade, but I doubt it. I haven't heard of STSF doing anything for conventions in the past, though I might be mistaken.

Though I'm sure you'd get some kudos for recruiting a few new cadets. B)

We did have a table at last years Trek convention in Vegas (I think there are pictures posted up here). It was great fun, a lot of work and a not-insignificant amount of money. We don't have exact numbers, but it didn't net us a huge influx of new members, so we are not going to be traveling the world, setting up STSF booths.

Having said that, I still have a cool banner and if someone has a good idea for some place we can "sell ourselves," let me know!

I would imagine that we would reach a better target audience at a convention or event that focuses on roleplaying, or roleplaying games.

Well hey no shame in trying. Hey I may even go on a shameless plug about STSF. ^^

Not to mention we should still have an ungodly number of magnets as well.

Rockin'. Hey, we should have pencils. Everyone loves to expand the commercialization of things and I thought I would attempt to expand it as well.

Is there such a thing?

Maybe there is a fan club we could crash or something.

I still have a box of eyeballs...

Yes, it's a great idea. Great ideas cost money, time and work. Anyone willing to contribute these things is MORE than welcome to! The money, time, and work, that is. Ideas are easy and cheap. :)

Ok, PAX was a huge success... and I got to meet Wil Wheaton after he did his panel there (its so nice that he does a panel every year). He was hilarious. I sadly was unable to go on a shameless plug about STSF to anybody, but hey maybe someone hacked my computer and found out about it (assuming they could hack through my security system ;D )
