"Bridge Time"

"Hi. Republic answering service. Do you know your party's extension? No? Please stay on the line, and a senior officer who actually knows what's going on should be with you shortly."

It wasn't like Fiona actually minded playing telephone operator, but... oh hells, it was hard enough for her to summon the proper bubbliness to play pediatrician -- or even general practitioner on a daily basis. Soon the ship would be avoiding communication with Ops like the plague they thought Medical was... not that she'd have minded that either, but since she wasn't a permanent staple in the Ops chair...

Oh well. If the spotted one had a few complaints about her fill-in... well... Kwai was the one who offered her the little change of pace anyway.

Fiona didn't particularly care for their Jem'Hadar visitors -- or for the distance from the planet -- or therefore the time it would take to get the away team back to the ship. She couldn't blame their trusty helmsman, and she didn't feel like going boom when they made a hasty departure from the asteroid field to save the ay-tee's necks, but still... it made her feel nervous. Nervous was a bad feeling -- and a rather unfamiliar one, lately. Because the doctor knew, if disaster did strike, there wasn't anyone on the ship who'd air on the side of safety and not go zooming through the asteroid field.

Oh well. If she didn't have a nice, private office to be nervous (and down a finger of brandy) in, she'd just do what she always did: ignore it.
