Mission Summary | July 17, 2008

The Talon finished loading the final supplies aboard for their crew-chosen year-long mission to the Gamma Quadrant. t'Rexan and N'Dak spoke briefly about the mission while the final supplies we loaded. Once they were, t'Rexan ordered the Talon to set off on her mission and head for the Neutral Zone and eventually Deep Space Nine, leaving the Oira to N'Dak while she headed to medical to speak to t'Ksa about, among other things, the progress of tr'Khev, who was stocking phaser riffles and other D'heno supplies. On the Oira, tr'Jhiin and S'bein spoke briefly about their thoughts on spies before the conversation was curtailed by the Daise'Erei'Riov. S'bein reported that the new communication equipment was functioning well, and tr'Jhiin began working on plans for scans of Federation space while the Talon passed through. Pexil and Laehval chatted while supervising in Engineering.

As we paused Talon was 18-hours away from the Neutral Zone, though they have at least obtained clearance to cross and head to Deep Space Nine.

Mission Summary | July 24, 2008

Having crossed into Federation space with na issue, the Talon made her way to DS9. t'Rexan got us clearance to pass through and managed to sweet talk the station OPS into letting Laehval and Ksa beam over for one hour to procure star charts and medical supplies. Meanwhile. tr'Pexil found out what deck plating tastes like and N'Dak and Khev met to discuss the latter's duties while he recovers from being mugged; Khev was shocked at how nice the Daise'Erei'Riov could be.

Mission Summary | July 31-August7, 2008

Talon completed her brief lay-over at Deep Space Nine, picking up last minute supplies and updating our starcharts for the year long mission before transiting the wormhole. The trip through the wormhole proved to be mostly uneventful, though rougher of a ride than most had anticipated, resulting in tr'Khev getting locked in his own br'tehh. The Khre'Riov has requested that Daise'Erei'Riov N'Dak investigate further to assure that no problems resulted in the ride and that it was simply normal turbulence.

Once emerging, t'Rexan noted that they would avoid the Lloann'na station in the Avalon system and instead head off in the opposite direction where vasts amounts of unexplored space lay ready for Talon to reveal the mysteries of this dark quadrant. After some discussion, N'Dak suggested they head towards the Kovaris Plasma Flare as it was expected to begin a period of activity. Science gleefully agreed and t'Rexan complied.

Talon heads towards the phenomena where they hope to be the first Romulan vessel to witness one of the active period, first hand.

Mission Summary | August 14, 2008

Talon arrives at the Koralis star, where it takes base readings before the magnificent solar flare begins. The crewmembers (those with a nearby porthole, that is) are treated to a show rivaling the best aurora borealis or fireworks display. Science and Operations coordinate sensor sweeps for a later report to the Galae, while medical is occupied tending to tr'Khev's rehabilitation.

Mission Summary | August 21-28, 2008

As the Talon crew prepares to depart from the Korvalis flare, it unexpectedly resumes activity. The ship remains to conduct more studies on the unprecedented scientific event, and to determine who or what launched their RAC.

The solar flare's display continues, coming dangerously close to Talon. The RAC, determined to be crewed by N'Dak and t'Ditsy, is in even more danger, and the crew struggles to find a way to retrieve their officers before the radiation reaches critical levels.

Mission Summary | September 4-28, 2008

Trapped in a RAC, t'Ditsy and N'Dak attempted to keep themselves alive, while Talon tried to save them while not getting crispy themselves.

Luckily for the executive officer and his companion, they managed to get the RAC drifting towards Talon, who picked up the thruster burst and snagged them in a tractor beam. However, the shuttle received a heavy dose of radiation, and both t'Ditsy and N'Dak were rushed to medical to begin treatment.

In all the commotion, t'Rexan was trapped behind radiation areas, but in a fairly safe zone. After t'Ditsy and N'Dak were safe, rescue of t'Rexan got underway.

Mission Summary | October 9-23, 2008

Talon arrived at a small M-class world and began scanning it. Intial scans showed no higher lifeforms, but a more detailed scan revealed a bronze-age culture. Science requested, and then in command Destorie approved, a mission to study this culture in their early development. The team consisted of Issaha and Sar'vek along with tr;Khev. Meanwhile, t'Rexan has been released from Medical and has returned to Oira duty. t'Aehjae has also recovered and returned to work.

Mission Summary | October 30, 2008

The away team noticed a hunting party and decided to leave the protection of their halo-blind to track them. Meanwhile t'Rexan and t'Ksa discussed her laser-eyeball, cookies and jello; t'Ditsy and t'Random got in a slap fight; elsewhere sensors have been giving faulty readings all over the ship and Engineering is working on replacing the malfunctioning nodes and finding a cause.

Mission Summary | November 6, 2008

The away team watched as the hunters tracked and killed their prey and began some sort of victory dance while a light rain began to fall. Meanwhile aboard the ship, the Medical team and t'Rexan had jello talk. Engineering found that the sensor malfunctions were due to over-saturation of the sensor nodes and have begun with all available crew help the tedious process of cleaning the nodes one by one.

[Arrenhe tr'Khev] Laeh cursing, the AT soaked rats down below, and flames shooting from N'Dak toward t'A. The Love Boat this is na.

Mission Summary | November 13, 2008

The victory dance on the planet ended as the rain picked up, the AT decided to return to the holoblind but found a swollen river blocking their path. They first tried to site-to-site with the aid of Talon, but that revealed the sensor nodes to be failing again, even after being scrubbed. This has a very upset Daise'Engineer and also an upset XO.

Mission Summary | November 20, 2008

Aboard the ship, the malfunctions continued and N'Dak briefed t'Rexan on the situations. Planetside, the AT found themselves encircled by the natives, who shockingly considered them to be some sort of Gods or something and took them back to their village for what looks like is going to be a night of feasting. On Talon, sensors had borked and the capturing of the AT went unnoticed until it was too late. An exchange between t'Aehjae and Destorie ended in the former being put on report.

An OOC Note: Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, Talon will not be running this week.

Mission Summary | December 4-11 2008

The away team has been captured by the natives while things continue to fail. The natives have propped them up as gods, while things aboard the ship continue to deteriorate as sensor nodes continue to fail. A rescue team is readied and disembarks as the AT manages to slip away in the night. Aboard the ship Engineering feels they're making a breakthrough in the source of the radiations.

Mission Summary | December 18 2008 - January 8 2009

t'Aehjae, N'Dak and t'Ksa embark on an rescue of the away team. Upon transporting them to the RAC safely, N'Dak is rather unamused that tr'Jhiin and Issaha are drunk, while playfully chiding tr'Khev for not shooting his drunken brother. As punishment, Destorie ordered Ksa not to administer any detox drugs. As threy returned to Talon, Engineering began to confirm their theories on the cause of the malfunctions -- a transdimensional leach that absorbs radiation and have attached themselves to the sensor nodes. With the away team returned, Destorie delivered his report to t'Rexan, which shielded the AT from criticism (though his motives remain as yet unclear) and Engineering developed a plan to rid the ship of the leaches by shutting down the power-grid and attracting them to another source of energy, such as a weapons discharge.

Mission Summary | January 15 2009

Engineering begins the procedure to cleanse the ship of the leaches, while Science and the Oira staff concoct a way to eliminate the leaches once they've been removed from the ship. To everyone's pleasure, both plans work and the Talon is free to continue her mission of exploration of the Gamma Quadrant.

February 19

Destorie begins a conversation with t'Aehjae on her continued defiance of his authority while t'Temarr and t'Ksa discuss the on going issue with tr'Pexil, who spends his time listening to Lloann'na music and attempting to sing it. t'Rexan consults Issaha on the unusual readings from the planet, which seem to indicate the remains of an advanced culture nearly intact, but no signs of warp trails that would indicate recent activity. Curiosity piqued, t'Rexan leads an away team to the surface to investigate herself, leaving the Oira under the N'Dak's command.

February 26-April 16

The away team discovers the remains of a massive volcanic eruption, leaving a giant seaside caldera. The readings Talon had been receiving indicating the ruins of an advanced civilization are buried underneath of a cave. t'Rexan calls down science and digging teams when it's discovered the ruins are covered in gold-pressed latnium leaf. Leave in put on hold as a massive excavation involving all major departments aboard Talon begins.

During the excavation, t'Rexan places N'Dak in charge of the integrity of the site as they worry someone could try and steal some of the latnium. Anyone caught doing do so is subject to death under the orders of the command staff.

One of the disheren maeneks (R'More) was nearly fatally injured when she snuck into the excavation site and tripped a booby trap of a poison dart. Medical rushed her back to Talon where they stabilize her, but were unable to properly treat for the poison without a sample. If one isn't found, she will likely die. Meanwhile, while clearing the site of any more traps to avoid further injury, security/engineering/science found another area of the ruins with the ash shells of the people who'd once inhabited the area, while a reconciliation of sorts occurred between t'Aehjae and N'Dak.

April 23-May 7

A group of mummified bodies was discovered below the surface, while traps were continued to be clear, with a few more causalities. Medical continued to search for antidote for the poison darts.

May 14

Medical found what they hoped was a large enough sample of the plant they believe was used to make the poison to concoct an antidote. Meanwhile, the science/engineering/security teams located what appears to be the Foundry where the latnium objects were made. Sar'vek found herself rather shocked to find out from Destorie that not all of the artifacts would be going to science directly -- as per orders from t'Rexan, once they were able to recover enough latnium, each member of the crew would be rewarded.

May 21

Underground, the clearing of traps had been halted whilst air purifying systems were brought into the lower levels near the foundry, where troughs were discovered, carrying liquid latnium into the Foundry. There was speculation as to the source of the latnium that flowed through the troughs. A discussion ensued as to how the excavation would continue. N'Dak decided it was best to first clear the area of any traps, and in the interim he and Sar'vek could discuss how to proceed.

May 28

N'Dak and Sar'vek came to an agreement about how they should proceed; t'Rexan was briefed on the situation and advised N'Dak to continue under his plan, which would have science continue their work on mapping and imaging the area while engineering and security cleared the forge area of traps, when that was finished the entire team would begin work on finding the latnium reserves that fed the foundry and begin extraction. Meanwhile, the air purifiers in the lower levels have cleaned the air completely. Elsewhere, t'Rexan made a startling discovery and is diverting some of our resources to look more closely into her find.
