The Manticore responded to a distress call from Negen Prime, a

new member of the Federation, who was under attack. Manticore

arrived too late to engage the enemy and soon set chase. Our

evidence pointed to Federation weapons being used and we

followed a trace warp signature and found a discarded torpedo

casing. It has just been disarmed and brought onboard, but

we are now faced with another mystery. It is encoded as part

of the ordnance package of NCC-31415. There is no fleet

vessel with that registry number and never was, yet the fleet

never skips numbers when assigning registries.
