Hello.

Hello, I am new to the whole simming idea for the most part, I was able to spend a month or so in one, but the website basicaly died on us and it never came back up. I am not sure as to whether or not I am supposed to put my biography somewhere or what, but I hope to start simming soon, going to join the Holodeck tonight. My simming experience is just that I know its roleplay, and I have done good roleplay in other games ect. and I like to believe I know a good bit about StarTrek and all the things incorporated into it.

Welcome Syndalar!

Have you read the help and rules section of the STSF page?

Basically, you start out in the Academy sims, which are every night at 9 or 10, (12 on Saturdays), in which every sim you play a different role until the game hosts graduate you. This takes around 3-20 sims, I think. Once you graduate the academy you join an advanced sim in which you have a permanent role and character.

Hope to see you soon. :P

Yes, I had read just about everything I could find, just wondering if I should have made a biography including species or something, thank you.

How did you hear about STSF?

What is your species?

Well, I was looking for a new sim, typed it into google, and you were the first website it pulled up. Also, if the sim is 9et, what time is that central standard time? North America. (Never was good at the whole different times thing.

Oh and Vulcan.

Welcome to STSF Syndalar,

for now you don't have to worry about species and biography. In the academies everybody's human and supposed to be a model starfleet officer, you create a biography with your species for the advanced simulation which you join after you graduate from the academy.

I hope to see you around

Welcome to STSF! We've been around for several years, so you don't have to worry about us closing up shop anytime soon. For Central time, just subtract an hour from Eastern.

Feel free to ask us anything. We've got a friendly community that loves new players!

Good to hear, I do have a question come to think of it. I am at http://www.stsf.net/chatroom.php and I have input my Login and Password from Startrek.com I believe it is, and I log in perfectly. I see three rooms, Holodeck Lobby and Briefing Room. My question is how do I change my name once in there? I have read posts that say there are Prefixes to peoples names and if someone logs for instance, I am supposed to switch from <Sec3> to <Sec2>. I do not know how to put these infront of my name. Any help in this would be much appreciated.

Welcome Syndalar,

You need to log in to the rooms, using the same login name and password that use to get to these boards. That is the only name you have to use in the chat rooms. The only way to "change" your chat name is to create another Boards account and log in, using that one. The <CSEC> tags are typed manually by each player, it is not assigned by the room or your chat name. In fact, a lot of people are not big fans of creating Boards names with ranks in them as you will eventually get promoted and the old name is out of date.
