"Evaluating the Choices"

Sar'vek made good use of the little interim the senior staff had, pulling up a loose ISD to take down a few notes.

Three options on the table -- three choices. It was, almost, like some macabre version of a "Choose Aur Own Adventure" tale -- any of them could end in io's y'ya, and na necessarily could io just flip back to page io and start again.

The first, and for Sar'vek, the easiest to rule out, was an espionage mission in Breen space. As much as her department liked to whisper of her paranoia and pessimism, it had a basis in fact -- she tended to think that espionage automatically equaled combat. Combat meant that the ship got half-crippled -- just enough that if t'Temarr worked overtime it could run on its last legs to some friendly port for repairs -- but therefore leave Laehval in a horrible mood. A few years hrrau Talon had taught her that an unhappy t'Temarr meant an unhappy rest-of-Talon.

This was coupled with the fact that the idea of knowingly breaching the agreement with the Breen was sitting ill with her. Sar'vek couldn't quite stomach the thought of such a blatant, dishonorable trespass. Na h'nah anyway -- another time, perhaps. Another time, when the crew had more time between firefights.

The re remaining options were the ios that had the science daise more torn. Their second proposed assignment was a visit to the Gamma Quadrant, where they'd be doing a show of some sort of power in the region. The Lloann'su were getting a little too well-situated, as she understood things. What Sar'vek had na been able to read between the lines during the briefing was whether or na they'd be making a power-show of arms or io of exploration. The second she was a proponent of. The first... na so much. It returned to the "Unhappy Talon theorem she'd arrived at with the Breen option, and left them little better a war between the Lloann'su and Rihannsu instead of Breen and Rihannsu was certainly na better.

The third, of all the three, seemed the safest from bellicose perspectives. Investigating a supernova and the preparation that would be involved leading up to the event -- h'nah... that thoroughly intrigued Sar'vek on all levels. Na exactly something they'd had an overload of, either -- though she could imagine the rest of the crew being a bit... antsy... with a scientific mission. The selfish side of her did na care whether dheno or the maenaks would be disappointed -- after all, she did want the research opportunity -- stellar phenomenon always ended up introducing scientists alike to so much new knowledge...

Ie. She preferred the nova, but in the event that the majority preferred the Gamma assignment, she would -- more than likely -- go along with that choice. The Breen choice she'd fight more, ie, but Gamma could be considered the best of both worlds. Still, the opportunity to study a supernova close-up... tempting. Very tempting.
