Just another side to the dice

Just another side to the dice

Aliana sat down on one of the boxes in her new quarters. She had just been assigned to them and she had yet to finish unpacking. She was holding a cup of hot chocolate and thinking about the latest news on the Aegis. The one she was thinking about the most though, was Shane Tayjer.

Apparently he had had to transfer to the U.S.S. Reaent after a horrible change of events. About to weeks ago she and Leilani Feretti had been attacked by an 8472. He had rushed in to help and had held the alien back long enough for Aliana to grab a fallen rifle and shoot it. Unknowest to her some of the 8472’s destructive cells had gotten onto one of his hands. According to Starfleet they had not begun to spread until several days later, when he was on a transport to Starfleet academy for more training. They had had to amputate his arm and give him an artificial one. With that he had transferred to the U.S.S. Reaent as assistant medical officer. Aliana sighed, though she had not really known Shane that well she still liked him. “Well, some things just have to change.”

She finished her hot chocolate and then begun to think about another order of business. She was thinking about what might have happened to the captain. Granted the captain was back on the station safe and sound, but she had overheard that she was captured by another ship, and then released.

“I wonder what they wanted.... hmmm.”

Aliana shook her head and grabbed her sleeping things. It was time for a little rest.

‘Its just another side to the dice,’ she thought as she slid into her sleeping bag. ‘Just another side.’
