Hi Powreal!  

 

Welcome to STSF!

 

This site is dedicated to people who enjoy Star Trek and online role-playing (online acting basically).  We meet in Startrek.com's chat rooms where we hold our events...  teaching new players how everything works...  and running "advanced" games for people who have been around the block a few times.  

 

This site serves as a resource for those events...  with these boards giving our players and guests a chance to talk to one another, share ideas, etc.   We post our schedule here on the site, share important announcements, keep a list of our rules, a guide to helping play better, and such.

 

We hope you spend some time with us.  Take a look at our schedule page (http://www.stsf.net/schedule.php) and find a Starfleet Academy event that you might be able to attend.  Then just show up to the Startrek.com chat room it's in and see how things go.  We're a friendly bunch and would love to have you.

Welcome to STSF Powreal!   You want to know about STSF? Awesome!   Basically this site and the simulations are for fun and gaming. On this site you'll find out how to sim, where to begin, about the players and GMs who participate in the games, as well as where we play. (Which we play in the rooms at http://www.startrek.com/community/chat.asp.)   Specifically here on the message boards we talk about the sims, characters, trek in many different forms, and each other. It gives us all a chance to get to know each other better. A great place to meet new people who share interests.   As for the games, we all play a role as a character at a post on a starship. When you go to the Acad you'll see the GMs send out a request for people to ask for posts. Shoot the GM the message in the chat says, a PM and let them know you'd like to play. Since it's for everyone, in the Acads we're all cadets. You and the crew will be given a mission briefing and all you have to do is have fun, do the best you can, and follow the plot/mission and GM's actions.   That's just a brief rundown, check out the simming materials on the site. They can help you more specifically with how the game works and how to play. Most of all don't be afraid to ask questions, and ask for help when you need it! :)   Welcome again Powreal, hope to see you around soon! :)

The next acad can be found on the schedule. On Tuesdays the Academy is at 10pm Eastern, 7pm Pacific time. (US)

BAsically, we play unique Star trek characters.  In the Acadaemy sims, you can play a position (e.g. Helm, OPS, Engineering, etc) in a starship and  you take part in some kind of mission. (though in academies I been to, you're 70% likely to die).   ::):

If you do start simming, you may well find it fun and exciting!  The only way to find out is to try!

 

Also, if you're interested in simming, and you're a bit unsure about jumping in even after reading the materials, you can always come to an academy sim or an advanced sim and watch other players.  You can PM (private message) the GMs (or even most of the other players) for more information.  See the schedule for when they take place.
