"Fever Dreams"

Kawalas is in sickbay on the Federation vessel lying on a biobed, sedated but dreaming of the demise of an honorable Duj .  Still under the effects of radiation poisoning, the tHlinghan tosses back and forth on the bed, groaning ever so slightly .

 

RHoz awakens from the ambush sedating by medical technician George.  He looks around the room as if awakening from a dream, rolling his eyes as the room comes into focus. His gaze locks onto Kwal', and he realizes who she is. He flexes  at the restraints until they burst, then jumps off the bio bed heading over to Kwal' .  RHoz growls at a med tech who attempts to intercept him, the Dr stops in his tracks. He gently places his cool palm on Kwal's ridges, then frowns at the heat from her fever.

 

She lies there, dreaming of glorious battle, her eyes moving rapidly under their lids . Kwal' sighs heavily, as she dreams of conquering her enemies. RHoz smashes the tray next to the sick warrior's bed, after he gets a tricordrazine shot for her radiation sickness from it! He injects her ...then waits to see how she reacts to the drug. He places is face close to hers and waits, impatiently! The tHlingan female's muscles all relax as the shot begins to work. Her breathing slows and becomes more steady, she slowly opens her eyes  not really seeing anything at first. His eyes widen as she awakens, he grasps her hand tenderly.  "Parmaquay?!" He inhales her scent. "You..you, know me...our hearts are as one !"

 

Kwal' feels the grip on her hand and begins to pull it away when she hears a voice, she blinks her eyes to clear them then looks up to RHoz. She inhales and weakly trys to push away. "QO!  We are not one with our enemies...!!  She turns her face away, does not look at him but sniffs the air once more... something familiar!  His ridges wrinkle slightly . "We ...were separated physically by a temporal anomaly...but our hearts still beat as one !" "Open your hearts...listen to what they tell you !" Determined, he looks deeply into her eyes ! "I fought to win you, I will not let something as trivial as time...separate us!!!"  "QO!  QO!! QO!!!" She trys to push by him, to sit up and get away.  She fails being too weak.  Restraining her gently, he responds. "Qo...do not get up ...you are still not well !  I must be in Grethor if you are no longer mine!!" RHoz bites her hand gently, then releases it and lowers his head. He raises head again. "If you wish it...I shall bother you no more ." "Why have you...?!" She reaches up to stop him,  to pull away, then looks into his eyes. Kwal' shakes her head as if trying to clear her thoughts. She lays back on the bed, beginning to feel the effects of the sedation once more.  Her tone more passive. "I ... I, do not know."

Rhoz's eyes flicker with hope, he regrasps her hand. Kwal' does not pull away this time. The awakening only temporary due to the radiation medication, she goes back to sleep...his hand in hers .  As he watches her drift off to sleep, he whispers in her ear. "You should know...that whatever happens...you will always be in my hearts !" Her grip slowly releases from his,  as she succumbs to the sedative once more .  He gently releases her hand, then grabs a hypo and administers the radiation medication to all of the ailing tHlingans in the sickbay.

         Ad astra per aspera... A rough road leads to the stars
