Cool thread. I think I'm a nerd for the following reasons:

- The first song I do at karaoke is always "The Time Warp".

- I seem to be one of 3 people there who actually know the song. :)

You be wrong... there are several of us who know it word for word... and the dance.

I still remember going to see Rocky at the midnight showing, in costume, carrying a bag of props.......

How did Grom become a Trek nerd?

Well I'm happy you asked!

Many years ago now, my mother pruchased me a Commander Riker and a Geordi LaForge figurine.  This was my first real introduction to Star Trek.  I began watching TNG...got hooked on DS9 post season 5...watched most of Voyager...started simming...and yeah, here I am...the rest is history! :) I guess I'm here because of my mother for two reasons.

I'm not really much of a Trek nerd.  More of a sci fi nerd, you could say. Though Trek is what started it all. My first series was TNG, which I started watching around '90. I was pretty young then, but fascinated by the Trek world. I especially got a kick out of Worf.  My brother, who was a big Star Wars fan, eventually got me into that. I've watched just about every new sci fi series or movie since. I didn't get into B5 at first, though. It was actually a fellow simmer who talked me into watching the first reruns. To this day, B5 remains my favorite show.

As to how I started simming, I was just browsing AOL chat rooms when I stumbled onto a fantasy role playing room. I found that I enjoyed RPing a great deal, and eventually I discovered the Star Trek simming rooms.

Don't have much in the way of Star Trek merchandise. I have a few of the books, mainly reference materials that I got for simming, and a life-size cardboard cutout Picard (my nerdiest item   ).

Permission, we don't need stinkin' permission.

Just do what I do....sneak in through the janitor's closet.  That's what we did at shoreleave a few years back....when after several years of our early morning hottub parties, the new management told us it didn't open until later in the day.

Ohhh, wait. As a matter of fact, I think it was that Atragon was the one that found the door unlocked in the first place, and lead our little away team, as we helped ourselves to the hottub anyway.  I do believe that I remember him being the first in the hottub. ::looks in file:: Yep..I still have the photo too.  deal.gif

So the answer is Dac.... Feel free to use it anytime, but use the backdoor. And if all else fails..have a communicator lock on yourself, and beam out at the last minute if he gets back.

They check in, but they don't check out...

You don't even want to know my RHPS stories.  And I'm not going to tell them.  :)

As for that there hot tub...  I have three words:  Late night only.  This morning crap ends with the past.  Let me give you a picture:

A.  It's 6 AM, you've gotten 4 hours of sleep and are hung over.  Only one cup of coffee at the most has hit your bloodstream.  It's daylight.

B.  It's 2 AM, you're high on adrenaline, the lights are dim...

so just sorting this all out, atragon stole all the money from the Dac statue fund, bought a hot tub and is now using it to capture victims! What a dastardly dastard!  :)

Picard!!  Is he coming this year??  You know what we need and they must make for us???  A roll-up life-sized Jean Luc.  You know, in that rubbery stuff like a Twister board?  (Webmaster, let me know how to put that in flaming scrolling bold text so anyone who makes cheap plastic toys can read it off the message board and make millions.)  You can't fold those cardboard ones to fit in plane luggage very well, I'd think.  Oops, I digress.  ::goes to look for Mr. Spucky::  Anyone driving have a cardbaord Picard?

LOL. "Shore Leave 25: The Undiscovered Piece."

Actually, I found the "Piece" this weekend. I am now debating if I want to actually try to get it through the airport, or just retire it to the lovely little island in Huff's garden pond.

Then again, she got through with a corkscrew last year.

Regretfully, the Cardboard Picard, after many years of Shoreleaving with us, is staying home. I don't feel like wrestling him onto the plane, nor do I want that bald bugger locking us out of the room again.

Blu

I got through airport security with a letter opener that was designed to look like a knife once!  I had it in my coat pocket from work for some reason and just forgot it was there!

If I remember right this was about a month before 9/11.

Well, I wouldn't try to put it in your carry-on, but you should be able to check it for under the plane (unless you connect it to your watch, a battery, and a wad of silly putty, eh?)

Actually, she had one, and I had one. I'm not sure where mine is right now.

Last time I saw it, I had placed it onto a sculpture in the middle of town to take a photo.
