Well....

 

Long ago, some folks from the family who were Star Trek fans were going to see this movie called "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. I, somewhere younger than 6, had yet to shutup for longer than five minutes. However, I begged to go...not even knowing what I was going to see.

 

As the story goes, a miracle happened. I was silent the entire time...eyes glued to the big screen. After that...the rest is history. :angry:

What if more than one of the poll choices applies?  I had a nerd major (economics) and work as a nerd (accountant).

well it's sort of like pasta and pasta sauce. Alone they are quite boring dishes but together they form a tasty meal. This is why people in finance are being hunted down to solve the world food crisis.

I can't say that dispatching is a nerdy profession, but my college major was History, with a minor in English. (It took ten years, but I am almost broken of the spell check in the chat room habit)

 

I used to work in purchasing.. a lovely offshoot of finance. We got to spend the money!!!

I was a TNG'er myself...  then moved to DS9, etc.  Started with watching basic TV (before I had cable) after the 10 pm news.  Since it was the only channel I could pick up, that's what I watched.  Fortunately it kinda grew on me just a little itty bitty bit.  =P

Boy i picked other because while i got hooked watching TNG i've been a nerd all my life.  TNG season one was aired 1987 and i was born in 1988.  Ever since I was born I was a trekkie.  My parents watched and because i was to young to protest, i watched it.  I've never known a life with out startrek and im thankful every day for it.  If there is a true trekkie here it's me.  I've never had a day of my life go by with out something involving star trek.  Wether it be watching the series, or being here on the boards or simming, or even writeing my novels and short stories.  I am nerd.  I am trekkie.  Hear me roar!

Ahem, well maybe I'm not THAT much of a nerd folks.  Believe it or not, I took a picture of my tags back then and I ::gasp:: haven't taken a new picture each year I get my registration sticker!!  Shock, Gasp!!

I used to name animals after ST characters, but all of them came to bad ends.

Cat named Data (it was an orange tabby) killed in a car engine

Horse named Deanna - had a terrible wire accident

Snake named Worf (black Mexican King) died under mysterious circumstances

Nile Monitor named Garak escaped, and was killed by dogs. (he gave them some nasty cuts first tho)

Boa named Riker gave up the ghost for unknown reasons

Iguana named Picard died of old age, we think

Various other fish and such died normal deaths.

 

But... none of my horses are ST named. :angry:
