Whom might it be?

Upon browsing the cadet introductions I realized that we have passed the count of 3000 in Member Numbers. I am aware that not all are active. But the question begs to be asked:

Who is number 3000?

It's Cdt_Harel.

Not all are active *and* some are the same person, so the member number definitely overstates the number of people here.

I find it fascinating that our supreme rul...er, senior GM isn't within the top ten of members.

I was, but that was an account called "Atragon," so that why this one is further down the list, as I retired that first one and started using this one.

Technically, member -17. For the boards, probably lucky number 9. :P

haha. what a funny topic. So what IS the number 6 reference?? Is it something like Javert always calling Jean Valjean "24601", i.e. prisoner numbers or something like that.

I assumed a BSG reference, which is all the more touching since Fred is number six. This topic actually got my to look at my own number, which is sadly one short of 42.

A weird and wonderful one-season TV show from Great Britain called "The Prisoner," starring Patrick McGoohan. He first starred in a show called Secret Agent (everyone start humming the theme song now) and when that was cancelled, they took his same character and put it in a new show. He was a former spy who was kidnapped from London and wakes up on a mysterious island. No one has a name, just a number. He is #6 and #2 is always trying to get information from him, as well as keeping him from leaving the island. Each week he ends up killing or getting rid of #2, so there is always a new #2. He never gets to see #1 and the whole show is very 1960's British, pyschedelic, weird.

In the opening credits you hear someone say "I am the new Number 2, you are number 6," and he screams "I am not a number, I am a free man!"

I've seen brief parts of the Prisoner (prolly on Sci Fi)! And yep, my first thought was "whoa, 60's, English and psych out stuff".

The exact opposite of "Prisoner" would be American campy with the original 60's Batman series - Booms, Splats, KaBooms, KaPowies, spandex (Dudes! get a better costume fit. Adam West could have at least had some fake muscle bulges :-D), and over the top villians.

Adam West is the bomb. Both in real life and on Family Guy

Yup, "The Prisoner" was the reference :-)

The beginning "conversation" goes like

"Who are you?"

"The new number 2"

"Who is number 1?"

"You are number 6"

"I am not a number, I am a free man!"

"Mu-hahahahaha"

Wow, I haven't seen the prisoner in years. I love the white ball. It gets him every time, except for the one in which he escapes. the last episode is the most creepy thing i have ever seen.
